For the love of God the man's name is LEINART! Also Oscar Lua is still on the team, he's just not starting.
SC should go undefeated. Playing all the tough games at home and especially at night will help immensely. I don't care who we play as long as that defense holds solid we should beat anyone in the country.
well im glad to have found another trojan on these boards, and im sorry i mispelled leinart's name, my dad is yelling at me to get my effing homework done so i can get into sc.
but yes
usc vs. auburn will be the Fiesta Bowl.

On a side note, how about your boys Duke there Zinny? Losing to 1-AA Richmond and not only losing, getting shut out 13-0!
Oh yeah! Hahahaha. The Richmond Spiders. The Richmond "I-AA" Spiders. :D Nice job, Duke.
It's gonna be a looonnnggg season. :(

Zinn, there's good and bad news:
Bad news: you were shut out by the Richmond Spiders.
Good news: you play Wake Forest on Saturday, and our starting QB is out for the season. This is basically your last "reasonable chance" for a win this season, except you do play Navy at home...hopefully you'll get it together by then.
Wait, more bad news: Wake has won the last six meetings, including a 44-6 victory in Durham last year.
And: our defense is better this year. No team in the country has more returning starters on defense than Wake Forest. Last week vs. Syracuse we gave up 136 yards of total offense and only 11 first downs.
I wouldn't be suprised to see Duke go winless...but at least by then basketball season will have started!

I was waiting for you to comment. Apparently your bunch blocked our FG on the last play of the game to preserve the victory. I say fire the ********ing special teams coach.

Seriously, I thought you guys would be pushovers, but you came out strong. 10-0 lead even. Luckily our redshirt freshman at QB went 22-29 in his first ever start. Amazing!

Just goes to show you can never underestimate the Duke spirit.

Spirit schmirit. I'm sure Northwestern played their hearts out for their late coach. Didn't matter against the 'Shire.
Duke just made some good plays early on.

Well, ASU looks much better than last week. Hopefully last week was the fluke, not this one. :o
And, is Washington really that much better, or is Oklahoma just vastly overrated?

I just checked the schedule for this week. 8 games pitting top 25 teams against each other (UT/Florida, Louisville/Miami, USC/Nebraska, ND/Mich, LSU/Auburn, Clemson/FSU, TCU/TT, Oregon/Oklahoma)? I think my head's going to explode.

BayernWake,
I'd like to talk trash about your Deamon Deacons coming to my home turf in Oxford this week, but we are young, and inexperienced. While our Coach is a great recruiter (See USC recruiting coord), I can't say he is a Coach, yet. We had hopes of this year doing something within the SEC,with the transfer of Schaefer, but with his tardiness in getting into Ole Miss, and the relative lack of depth on the defensive line, I'm hoping for an upset.
On paper it appears you haven't played anyone to guage your 3-0 record. But I can tell you this, if we click we beat you, otherwise, it's another game of experience for our players, which is hard to say coming from me. Hotty Toddy. Ole Miss 21, Wake 17.
I say that with my eyes closed, and fingers crossed. It seems like the hope for the future post- Eli Manning was a dream.

Admittedly I don't know much about Ole Miss, but I think you're right about the 21-17 scoreline....but who will be on top??
I assume Ole Miss has a huge fanbase and a relatively loud stadium. Our RS Freshman QB hasn't played in a loud stadium yet (only played @ UConn), so he'll probably be rattled. Then again, our first-string QB did pretty well @ Clemson as a frosh two years ago, so maybe we just have a good QB coach. Anyway, how's Ole Miss' offense? Wake's D is relatively good this year...most returning starters in the nation. Somehow one of our defensive ends ran back an INT 86 yards for a touchdown last week (would've been fun to see).
Can't say I'm as excited about our offense. This will be Skinner's third-ever start at QB...he's done pretty well, but like I said, I don't know how he'll handle starting at an SEC school. Also, our starter at RB (Micah Andrews) will miss the game, but his backup is more than capable. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see us leave Oxford with a loss...3-1 would still be a pretty good start to the season.
Meanwhile, our coach Jim Grobe has nothing but praise for you guys:

I'm hoping 21-17, win for the Rebs, however, I fear it will be the other way around.
Don't let the SEC tag worry you, we are a lower tier SEC school trying to rebuild. We are young, and haven't been very cohesive.
Offense: See Miami last few years as far as scheme, because we got the offensive coord when he got fired last year. Pro Style set. Brent Schaefer our Quarterback was a 3 game starter with Tennessee as a Freshman, got kicked off the team after injuring a shoulder and getting into fights. Went to JuCO and had gawdy stats. He didn't get into school until about 3 weeks before our 1st game. He was supposed to be there all summer. He's fast, rolls out well, runs well, fairly accurate, just not comfortable with the offense. We are more of ball possession, running team.
Defensively we are beat up pretty bad, already suffered from lack of depth and experience and now our d-line is pretty much injured. Honestly haven't seen you guys play, but I expect a better game for us this time around than our last two games.
Vaught Hemingway stadium seats about 65,000, not big by SEC terms, can be loud if we are winning, which has not been happening much the last 3 years.

I would have figured Orgeron would have revamped and reenergized that defense right out of the chute, being a defensive coach at SC.

He did last year. The defense was the only bright spot. Patrick Willis is our main guy (linebacker), probably would be in the pros this year if not for offseason surgery. He played 3/4 of the year with one arm and still was in on about every tackle, however our offense was horrendous and the defense was asked to stay on the field for too long of periods.
This year the defense has been an utter disappointment mainly due to lack of depth and injuries. But there has been some glaring missed assigments and missed tackles. Orgeron is not dealing with the same talent as he did at USC, it will be interesting to see how long he will be given to turn things around. He says the system works and will not change, just has to be implemented properly during the game. We'll see.

Sounds like the Wake/Miss game was wet and sloppy. We only had five passing attempts! But somehow won 27-3. And yet, we will still get no top 25 votes.
