Anyone have links to british sports papers? I was curious if they were bashing chelsea for losing or taking it easy on them because it was first pre season game.

There is a BBC headline about "Cole Injury Scare"......the fact that Chelsea was dominated by a "pick-up" American MLS team (from an "inferior" league of course!) and who had never played together before - got a one line mention in the story.

Why does this irk you so much. Bask in the glory of the win cause what matters is that ESPN will talk a bit about it and MLS will promote. Why should England's papers really care about it as its not going to sell any more papers than rumors about players leaving. Calm down mate.

The game kicked off too late for the Sundays, just a few titbits, "Chelsea humbled by All American heros", that sort of thing, but tomorrows dailys are gonna be full of it, there'll be full back page spreads in the red tops, don't let the Chelsea fans fool you, this is a massive result in England, last nights radio phone-ins were electric, Chelsea and the British press simply cannot believe this result, one pundit actually claimed that there was a typo and in fact Chelsea must of won 10-1, he was in complete denial, well played the Yanks!

That will be good then. Of course to the "okocha1" crowd the game doesnt mean anything! Like the Comminity Shield game.

Frightening - have you seen Sky sports coverage? I've never seen a football match stir up so much coverage. There's rumours afoot that the Queens going to address the nation to help ease it through this time of national crisis...

Actually, the Community Shield means something, just not very much. As opposed to this game, which meant absolutely nothing. Sorry. I'm an MLS fan, but you're delusional if you think anyone from Chelsea cares anything about this game other than the fact that Cole got hurt.

The point is that the game speaks volumes about the standard of football in the US.
As it happens Chelsea fans SHOULD care as the MLS game may signal something about the likes of Ballack Shevchenko Lampard Essien all being on the pitch at the same time. Time will tell.

So what can we surmise from the standard of US football with the result against Real Madrid last year?

Sky Sports doesnt even have a score let alone a report. It must be run by ignorant Brits who dont realise that their employer is investing a fortune in the Fox Soccer Channel in the US.

Sky is run by an Australian family. Good to see your ignorance knows no bounds....

That Spanish football is "n" times stronger than English football?

Strange, the UEFA coefficients put them on a par. And that same Real Madrid team was put out of the CL by a team that could only scrape a 4th place in the English league. Hmmmm...

You will find Murdoch is an American citizen dumbass. And you miss the point anyway - the same company is their employer. Go back to F365 where you belong!

Ah, in the same way that Adu is "american". Gotcha...
You do realise you screwed up your argument completely. This game was so meaningful that not even a sports channel whose owner has massive investment in the US is covering it.
Seeing as I've been here longer than you I think you should be the one heading back to soccermoms.com

Hey Indiana? Go play in a wood chipper. And if you continue with this tone, you're not going to be posting in the Chelsea forum much longer.
This thread is retarded and is closed. The English media, like nearly all Chelsea fans.............don't care. Really, we don't. No, seriously.
