Assuming we wrap up a deal for Senna soon, would just two summer acquisitions be enough?
GOALKEEPERS: Van der Sar, Foster (possible loan to Watford), Howard (loan to Everton), Steele (loan to Coventry)
LEFTBACKS: Heinze, Evra
CENTREBACKS: Rio, Brown, Vidic, Silvestre, Pique (loan to Zaragoza), Evans (possible loan to Antwerp)
RIGHTBACKS: Neville, Bardsley, Simpson (possible loan to Antwerp)
LEFT WINGERS: Park, Richardson
CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS: Carrick, Senna*, Scholes, Fletcher, Jones, Miller (possible exit)
RIGHT WINGERS: Ronaldo, Martin (possible loan to Rangers), Eagles (possible loan/exit to Watford)
FORWARDS/STRIKERS: Rooney, Saha, Rossi (possible loan?), Solskjaer, Smith
NO MAN'S LAND: Giggs, O'Shea
I personally would still like to see us go in for an experienced backup goalkeeper, just so that Foster can go out on loan to Watford. Kuszczak IMO would be a terrific signing especially if we can bag him for less than £3m. I think it's extremely hard to find a young keeper with almost an entire season of top flight experience behind him who would be willing to sit on the bench. He is eccentric at times but overall he's a good shotstopper with excellent reflexes. It's a shame that West Brom want Rossi on loan in return, because I'd prefer to have Rossi stay with United even if he only gets to come off the bench.
The defence looks like its been taken care of for a good three seasons with the signings of Evra and Vidic, and youngsters like Bardsley, Pique, Evans, etc in reserve.
I wouldn't mind a winger, tbh. Richardson has seemed a tad smarter in the way he plays but his crossing is still atrocious. Eagles doesn't look to be the part, and at this stage I don't see him in a United shirt for long. We could keep Martin and give him a few games, but I still think he's quite raw and needs a bit more experience at another club. Giggs looks like he's lost another yard of pace so I can't see him being a very effective option on the wing anymore.
In terms of forwards, I think we're okay provided we don't suffer from another injury crisis. My main worry is that the only true centre forward we have is Saha - the rest seem more adept as support strikers.
