I wish we could play you in your mid season, to get a true reflection of our worth.
Good on MLS for the result.
having said that,
please take these points into concideration.
1. MLS is in mid-season, Chelsea isn't even in preseson.
2. MLS is fully fit, Chelsea have only been in training for a few weeks.
3. Chelsea have several players that are getting a run out, so there isn't a team chemistry yet.

1. Chelsea has a lot of guys who were playing in a little tournament in June, so it's not like they were eating pork rinds and drinking beer on the couch all summer. One might make the arguement that guys who've had a month off would be better rested than guys who are playing soccer in 100 degree heat for a month.
2. This is an all-star team, so most of these guys never play together, so there really wasn't much for team chemistry there, either.
I wish some Chelsea person would just say, "Hey, we wanted a good, tough game, we got a good, tough game." Instead, Mourinho talks about fitness, which is a joke, talks about the offside call being wrong (which it wasn't), he just makes excuses.
It's just a friendly. A very hard-fought, well-played friendly. Both MLS and Chelsea got exactly what they wanted out of it. I don't know why excuses and/or trashtalking need to enter into this.
I don't want to play Chelsea in midseason, either, because if we win, I am sure Mourinho would have just as many excuses. The only way we would get a truly meaningful match against Chelsea would be if we were in the premier league or champions' league. In addition, this win or a loss says nothing about the worth of MLS. Chelsea has nothing to do with the worth of our league.
It was a good thing for Chelsea, it was a good thing for MLS, but it shouldn't be made into more than it is, and it shouldn't be discounted as less than it is. It is what it is.

The WC adds to about 50 other games the squad has played, I think that justifies the fitness comment. Please don't be so delusional give the mls all-stars 3 weeks of practice in pre-season and make them come play Chelsea at stamford bridge in January. The score would be a bit more than a 1-0 win, I tell you that. No one's making accuses, well played, but I think you would be a bit disappointed if the USL all-stars beat whichever MLS club you support in a friendly. It still would be meaningless to the overall season.
