And I hate places that don't have exact numbers for their tax. Well, not if I'm just visiting, cause I won't notice. But I hated when tax here was 5.5%. It was such a pain in the ass. Now that it's 6%, it's easier to work out in your head while you're standing in line to buy something and are using exact change.
i just hate it altogether. you end up getting so much more change back in a sales tax state. $0.99 becomes something crappy over a dollar, and so on and so forth.

isnt ohio 7%?
edit: nevermind.
Yeah, here in Hamilton county it just went to seven last year.
I was thinking it went from 5.5% to 6%. But it didn't. it went from 6.5% to 7%.

Yeah, it's 7% here. I was used to 5% in MA. Of course, people still call it Taxachusetts, even though people well below average in taxes in MA. I think they have a tax-free weekend next week.

Right. I have no problem whatsoever paying sales tax. Even if it's like 10%. I just want it to be wrapped into the price of the product.
Our sales tax is 8.8%. We have no income tax, though.
I wish they'd lower the sales tax and implement an income tax instead.

MA's tax free weekend is on all non-business purchases under $2,500.

In Texas, it's a weekend every August where there's no sales tax on clothing and footwear item under $100.
It's intended for back-to-school clothes shopping.
Oh, that's pretty cool.
And I think that I would totally trade our lower sales tax for no income tax like you guys have.

VA and DC's tax free thingy was this weekend.
MD's is in a few weeks.

I'm not a fan of those coins.
The reason those Sacajawea coins didn't work is that everyone wanted to collect them, so they weren't circulating.
They should just make new $1 coins with "NAMBLA" printed on them. That way, everyone will want to spend them.

You know, when I was in London, I met people that really did think that dollar and two dollar coins were better than paper money.
Like what do you even say to people like that? I just looked at them like they were aliens.

You get to deduct state income tax from your federal income tax.
We didn't get to do that with sales tax until last year.

I'd rather have $1 coins than have to spend five minutes trying to get the damn vending machine to try and take my damn $1 bill.

A day of shopping? It took me two minutes of having the damned things before I realized how retarded they were. Who on earch would anyone rather have coins in their pockets than singles. Do singles ever fall out of your pocket when you sit down? Do singles make noise when you walk?
