Have you checked the TV and Satellite section of Bigsoccer?

Some of the people that post in there, work in the media and know their stuff.

You can't get DirecTV where you are?

Oh, let me know when you're coming, a few days in advance would be great.

I'll have the lawm mower all gassed up, the rakes ready, and in the winter, I'll even supply you with a pair of good gloves for clearing the snow off the roof <----wouldn't want it to cause disruption to the signal ;)

I can but it is more cash up front again, two year commitment and I will have to spend a few days recording all my favorite Chelsea matches off the Dish DVR before I cancel plus dish has the two room dvrs so you are not chained to the room a program is recorded in...wah wah wah

There are many people in the TV forum spreading the falsehood that "you can get Setanta Sports USA TV broadcast only from DirecTV". They are probably DirecTV telemarketers spreading the lies.

Setanta can be had using a 30" Ku-band dish and a receiver. The carrier is Globecast. The channel is a la carte. There is no 1-year contract commitment. This 30" dish is not much bigger than the big DirecTV oval dish that catches signals from 3 satellites. Of course, people who know this stuff use it to get European/Asian/African soccer games from the ethnic channels fo ryears.

There are 3 people advocating the Ku-band route in the TV forum: myself, Chandu and Gutbomb, but of course, we are overwhelmed by the DirecTV telemarketers disguising as soccer fans. This is simply DirecTV's ploy to grab market share from Dish Network...

The deal is up on www.itvn.com now. Free equipment with a year commitment to Setanta at the same $14.95/mo that direct will be charging. Pay two months up front plus shipping ($13.95 for 2 day, @$35 if you absolutly have to have it next day). (30 day money back trial)

Ordered mine yesterday will report back at the end of the week on its quality.

Yeah - please do. I'll likely have to get it when I go back to the States.

Well it has been up and running since Friday, very easy to hook up, and I am happy. The quality is pretty good, not quite as good as dish or direct but definatly worth having if direct is not an option or desired. Is just a tiny tiny bit off on speed and clarity for live feeds ie the ball moving fast, seems to have just a bit of a blurry tail and the players have a bit, really a very very little bit of the old black and white baseball footage type feel in the way they run sometimes but regular programs and highlights are perfect:confused: Though Setanta's bar feeds were like that as well often so it may be more setanta than the technology, I have never seen Setanta on direct so can not directly compare.

Get Blue TV, cola games, psv earlier and was able to watch both matches side by side today which is really cool. Celtic starting now...

The not having a DVR and having to dust off the vcr is a negative, especially since it has to be on and if you lose internet service or power before the taping starts out of luck, lots of lightning here lately. Had no buffering issues except for about a minute once at the start of the scouser match. Other than Setanta not much else available yet on itvn other than Lacross and subscription porn but more promised.

The 30 words or less part: You simply must have Setanta now in the USA, Direct or Dish (rumours from a Setanta official are that Dish will have it by January) are still my recomended option if available and desired (the 2 year Direct commitment sucks) but ITVN works well and definatly a good viable option with which I am happy and will keep me from switching from Dish to Direct.
