It was just reported on a few Dutch websites that the referee who dismissed Rooney and Scholes reported these sending offs to the Dutch FA, who in their turn reported it to the English FA.
Just so you guys know.

We should be able to get the Rooney red card turned over for wrongful dismissal. Even though the FA hates United, they don't like carrying over cards from preseason games...I think Rooney will be fine.
Even if Scholes gets the red cards turned over, I think he had yellow before and that combines for a one match ban anyways. So he'll be questionable.

It's a complete bullshit in Rooney's case, although we should win the first 3 games even without Rooney.

Both red cards were deserved , some people just don't get it. It's always somebody else's fault.

I'm puzzled as to which matches the bans will refer to. Prior to the Ajax game the commentators said that Rooney and Scholes were banned from that match. Is this ban part of the total - if so what about the remaining friendlies? - or do they suffer two bans - the friendlies and then Premiership games separately?

I did, and it's still a red. Besides your opinion and mine are worthless. The only one that maters is that of the ref, guess who he agrees with?

I thought it was a weak red. It wouldn't be given 9 out of 10 times, but I wouldn't say it's definitively wrong.
But the very idea that a ref's opinion is necessarily right in any sense is nonsense. And if that's not what you meant, then your remark is utterly meaningless.
Very poor post.

Rooney gets really unlucky with anything Portugal-related :(.
I think at most it deserved a yellow.

It was careless not malicious. You start giving red cards for carelessness and you finish up with 5 a side.

Just because the dutch report the incidents to the FA doesnt mean they reds will be upheld. I heard thr FA wouldnt uphold the reds, but guess its a rumour. If needed to I hope united put up a robust defence, at least of Rooney.

Unbelievable! Just heard on BBC Radio that Rooney WILL get a three match ban for the start of next season. This is unbelievable, I have watched the replay of the incident about 10 times on MUTV and the defender that Rooney was jumping against didn't even make an attempt for the ball. Had he done so he would not have been at arm height for the incident to happen. What has the FA seen in the incident to make them issue a ban?? It amazes me that an association as big as the FA can still not see an obviously accidental clash. I would expect an appeal to this by Man Utd as the offence was in no way malicious...
For the record Liverpool played in the Amsterdam tournament last closed season and won it. They also had players red carded (I think it was Gerrard) and they were eligible for the start of the season. Alex has stated that if this tournament wants to attract big teams into it in the future these decisions need to be looked at fairly and not penalised into the start of next season. Why handicap the only true competitor to Chelsea this season, the task is big enough as it s
Another case of one rule for Man U and one for the rest...
