This one's at home and will be on the air. I hope to be listening.

Too bad we don't have the Traore and Faye deals done. It would be good for them to get in on this one.

Here's hoping we see more of the first team this time around -- including one Darren Bent.

Here's my guess at a starting lineup:

Andersen
Young, Sorondo, HH, Ashton
Rommedahl, Kishishev, Farinos, Ambrose [or Sam]
JFH, D. Bent

I know, wishful thinking that even Mr. ID will put an attacking central mid on and leave Kish as the only dmid/holding mid. Well, let's get on with the attack so we don't always have to defend.

Go Addicks!

Got into this after the first 30 minutes. Can't get the lineups from CAFC site.

But Marcus Bent has scored on a pass from trialist Bolanos.

Addicks 1 - 0 New Zealand

And M. Bent almost scores another. Good to see him get going now in the preseason. Hope to see the other Bent get some time in before the match with West Ham.

Here are the lineups now.

Charlton: Myhre; Young, Ashton, Hreidarsson, El Karkouri; Bolanos, Hughes, Holland, Rommedahl; Hasselbaink, M Bent.
Subs: Andersen, Kishishev, Euell, D Bent, Walton, Farinos, Fortune, Sam, Walker.

New Zealand: Paston, Pritchett, Lochhead, Old, Vicelich; James, Barron, Brown, Smith, Smeltz, Banks.
Subs: Bannatyne, Boyens, Hay, De Gregorio, Killen, Fisher, Fleming, Urlovic, Wilson.

D. Bent on the bench. Maybe he will get on in the second half.

One thing of note -- no Sorondo. ID must be rested him because of his tight hamstring problem. I certainly hope he gets fit. He was dangerous on set pieces against Valencia and scored the only goal for us that day.

I hope we see Kishishev and Farinos in the middle in the second half. It would be nice to "see" a dmid with a truer attacking mid playing forward.

Apparently, though I came into it late, I missed nothing important in the first 30 minutes. A slow starting match with the Addicks taking control after 30 minutes.

So, at halftime. Addicks 1 - 0 New Zealand

From what I have heard, Rommedahl looked dangerous and hit side netting twice. Bolanos handled the ball well and made the pass that set up M. Bent's goal. M. Bent looking lively and may be finding how to play with JFH.

As the second half starts, the lineups have not changed. And I now note that Darren Ambrose is nowhere in today's squad. I had heard he also took a knock. Probably just a precaution.

Rommedahl sent in a shot/cross that M. Bent steps over instead of sending it home. It should be 2 - 0 but it is not.

JFH has a go too, but his chip didn't find the net. M. Bent and JFH working together for that opportunity.

JFH fed Rommedahl with a great ball. A late challenge by a defender seemed to throw Dennis off or he would have scored. And he should have.

Our wingers seem to be staying wide much better today. We are playing with width and depth -- thus stretching the defense.

I will credit ID but also JFH for this. I'm sure both want to see those wingers stay out wide to create space.

Ashton makes a mistake and Banks scores for New Zealand. 1 - 1.

So, methinks we need Traore here sooner than later. And wouldn't Faye make a difference in the middle today.

Go Addicks! It's only a freindly, but lets put the shots away.

I must take a break from the action. I have to get ready for a wedding. I will check back in later.

Hartley what do you think about Christian Bolaños?

Well, I have only actually seen him play when Saprissa hosted KC Wizards a few of years ago. [I think I saw him against DC United last year?] He looked good then. And it sounds like he is doing well in his trial with Charlton. I certainly hope we sign him.

With Jerome Thomas out, Bolanos would be a good addition to the midfield wings. He can compete with Rommedahl, Ambrose, and Sam for a starting spot. Not only can he possess the ball and run at the defense, he seems to know how to stay wide and provide service. That's a good example to Ambrose and Rommedahl, who are always wanting to cut inside [take the easy route the defense gives them].

With D. Bent and JFH up front, they will need plenty of service -- that's a possible 30 to 40 goals up top if the Addicks play it well.

What are your thoughts?

And now we have signed him for a year loan with an option to buy before the year is over. Cool. We will need him at the start with Thomas out. He will bring some unique creative skills to a squad that lacks in that area.

Thanks for the link. What a great goal.

Why didn't Liverpool keep him?

Well, this has turned out good for Bolanos and good for the Addicks.

I look forward to hearing about some great passes and goals coming from the left side with Christian being over there.
