If the brain, the personality and the character can help, I think in a couple of years he will be one of the best players in the world. The quality is there
“He was without football for a long time. I wish him a lot of success with Chelsea and I wish that himself and the people around him can help him to be a good personality - because the boy can be a real star.”........................says jose.
initially i thought this was a little bit flattering until i went to chelsea training in (chicago)toyota park, the boy sure is good. his touches and confidence with the ball is very impressive,i'm very much sold on this boy. the way he was able to seek out his man in little space is awesome. his style is very fluid and laid back.being around Lampard and Ballack will definetly help. i thought he was a little "shy" or more on the reserve side cause he didn't talk or chatter more with the rest of the guys,.
PS: i got an autograph from drogba, nice dude.

He reminds me of Ballack with a bit of Kanu in him as well. He is one the best players to come out of Nigeria in a long while. I'm so happy we have. Who better to learn from than Ballack and Lampard.

actually my boy went to the LA training sessions and the Chi town one. He said Obi played like sh!t in the chicago training, he played tired,- thats saying a lot if you guys still think he played well in it.
The kid is a very cerebral footballer and we haven't had that in Nigeria since Kanu came on the scene.
oh, also i met drogba last year, i thought the guys was an arrogant a$$hole, my mate whos been following chelsea this summer confirmed my views on drogba.
Maybe its cos we're african and he dislikes other africans, i dont know.

I'm sensing Obi's progress is going to be closesly monitored by quite a few interested fans. Would you guys like a thread set up specifically about his progress? Would make things easier. ;)

Mikel didn't do much of aything at the practice yesterday true, but neither did Shevchenko. So I don't know how much you can rate a player on one days work.
Drogba didn't come off as an a-hole at all. He was bright and cheerful and very playful with all his teammates and he was one of the few players who went completely down the entire wall to sign autographs smiling and lauging most of the way. So, maybe your theory is correct, I don't know. He seemed great to me.

sure, that will be nice.
yes, mikel did look tired quite a bit at the training yesterday, however , u can still see what an extreme talent he is. trust me guys, we've found an awesome player in mikel, i wasn't expecting him to be in top notch shape since yesterday was ony his 4th training with the team and the boy hasn't payed in about 5 months.
As for Drogba, i thought he was cool yesterday, he signed the most autograph and was in a chatting mode, i joked with him about scoring a goal against nigeria at the nations cup in Feb, he reminded how long nigeria has been defeating the ivory coast before and not to worry about just one defeat in a more recent time. that was cool, i thought

Obi hired a personal trainer while he was back in Nigeria, also he trained with an old club back there. Its not really a surprise that he is in shape, he hadnt played for a while before last summers u20 tourney and he played excellent in it,
he hadnt played for a while before this years ANC and he played excellently in the tourney, somehow he makes it work.
