Talking to my girlfriends mum the other day and she was trying to tell me Aaron Lennon is Irish. She was saying he played for Ireland U21's and his parents are Irish? Is this true?

Is this true?Lennon does have Irish in him and Steve Staunten tried to call him up but he rejected him. He's never ever played for the Irish U21's or anything. And can only play for England now since he's played for them competitively.
