According to a press release just issued by the Revolution, the Quakes have acquired a 2003 Draft Pick from New England in exchange for salary cap relief. For now, there's no word of exactly which Revolution draft pick San Jose has picked up.

New England then claimed midfielder Winston Griffiths off waivers from Los Angeles, and signed former University of Virginia midfielder Marshall Leonard.

I'd rather have Steve Ralston. :(

Ralston's not going anywhere. Not for anything that San Jose would offer.

I'd give you Wolde Harris for either Barclay or DeRosario. That's about it. We're bad, but even we don't have much of a need for Russell or Ibsen, who we were smart enough to trade in 1996.

Hey! I am not salty!

Anyway, we might get him if we trade away the true cancers of the team, Donovan and Agoos.

I'd definately go Barclay for Harris and probably DeRosario for Harris.

The Quakes absolutely cannot acquire Wolde Harris. There are a couple of guys in the front row of the Gold section who have been consistently riding him for at least four years now, and it would probably destroy them if Wolde was playing for us rather than against us. I couldn't stand to see that...

Do we have a history with Wolde that i don't know about? Do they only rag Wolde?

There ARE other players they rag including Preki, but Wolde's been a favorite. When there's nobody interesting on the field for them to taunt, they generally harangue the fourth official!

Yeah - those guys are tits! This is my fifth season working for the team, and I always know it's going to be entertaining when I see them sitting there!

What the hell? Did I miss something? Did the Krafts take over the Quake's organization again?

Why would we bother to help the Revolution make the playoffs? Unless that draft pick is a number 1 or 2, the player we chose will get cut.

Who made this team from the draft 2 years ago? Only Robinson and Carrieri (who is gone). Who made this year's roster? Lucci and Roner. Odds are, we burn that pick. Where's the logic in that?

I was thinking the same thing......if it isnt the #1 pick then there must be some sort of handshake deal on a future transaction.

Either that, or the Quakes figure their roster was set for the year, so they might as well trade the extra cap room they've got for something.

Besides, it's not unheard of for a third or fourth round pick to make a team and even contribute.
