Are you sure its our beloved Arsenal and not the team of same name from Argentina? ;)

You'll pardon me incredulity, but well......... I'm incredulous.

Perhaps someone within our group with media contacts (hint, hint)(you know who you are) can extend to Mr. Lee an invitation to join our merry clan. Perhaps then we can all convince Sir Spike-ness to cast us as extras in his next cinema extravaganza. Perhaps we could play "screaming soccer fans" or something.

I've actually worked with Spike Lee. In '96 I was with the Yankees and hung out with him while he was filming something on Albert Belle for HBO. He was a very good guy and was wearing a Brazilian national team jersey on one occasion.

I have his business card and was thinking about giving a call. Should I? Not that he would answer the phone (he's got people who do that), or remember me.

Go for it, rick, I don't see what you've got to lose. Wouldn't that be cool? Spike Lee, a member of ArseAm. Very cool indeed.

Vive le AFC!

Spill it Rick.

Does or does not his business card have something subversive on it about "making joints"?

Inquiring minds want to know! :D

The card is for SPIKE DDB, the ad agency, not 40 Acres and a Mule, his production company which has brought us such classics as Do The Right Thing, She's Gotta Have It and, well, a bunch of others I wouldn't classify as classics.

The card simply reads:

Spike Lee
President

address
phone
fax

We'd have the baddest fan club around.

We gotta' get Spike! Think of the publicity: every mention of ArseAm in the future would contain the phrase "of which director Spike Lee is a member".

Plus, maybe I could get the DVD of "School Daze"....

Arsenal has been trying to get ahold of Spike Lee since this first came up. It seems a number of the players are fans of the NBA and know who Spike Lee is. They'd love to have him over for a game and meet some of the players.

We passed along Spike's agent details to the club and the club contact his agent. However, I think the agent didn't realize how big "Arsenal" was (they know only ManUtd.) and filed the request somewhere.

If anyone ever sees him or any of his agents, etc, please pass the word that Arsenal Football Club is dying to have him over as a guest and that they can contact the me, Rick, or the club's marketing department for more details.
