Did anyone notice how Rensing missed that shot/cross that narrowly missed the goal???

Also he stood and watched the one shot hit the post. Is that not dangerous???

He must know his goal positioning well and know where the ball is exactly going.

LOL, nice try.
But honestly if there is a position i am not worried about in the furture is that of GK.
Yes he had 2 ocassions where he misjudge the cross, but hey sometimes its better to be lucky than good. (BALL HITS BAR)

And besides, we havent lost a single game when hes a starter.

Spot on.Our goalkeeping department has allways been top notch.Rensing will be a worthy replacement for Oli.
The mistakes of this kind will disappear as he gets more playing time.

Rensing is no Kahn yet. That's why Kahn will restore his no. one position anytime. However, Rensing continues his good performances almost rising on each occasion to the tasks. Well done, Rensing.

I hope rensing gets 5-10 starts in BL. I think he is of the age were he needs to play, not in regional liga, but in the BL. I think Kahn will not be ready to play the entire schedule due to injuries that will become more predominant at his age and Bayerns large number of games, so I think Rensing will get the opportunity. Anyway, I think he will become a very fine keeper

I disagree with you, I think Rensing will get atleast 15 or so starts in the Bundesliga if not more. There is not much these days separating Rensing and Kahn on skill, only experience. Rensing will proove with time its his spot.

Well, I agree with you. I should have said "at least 5-10" starts. If he gets 15 or more so much the better. It's time to gradually make the switch, Ollie can help Rensing alot, but time is not on his side.

I don't know if you saw the u-21 ( I think) game against England with Rensing in goal. My daughter (who is a huge Kahn fan) said it was time for the changing of the guards. But he is still young, and if their is a position where one mistake can be crucial...

does anyone have a stat on how many total matches Rensing started whether it was Bundesliga, Champions League or DFB Cup?

The most interesting question concerning Kahn and Rensing for me is, was Kahn already that good (as Rensing) with 22? :p
I guess not! :D

Bundesliga - 12, Champions League - 1 (AC Milan 1:1), DFB Pokal - 7 (2 for Bayern, 5 for Bayern II)

Well, Kahn was the first keeper of KSC at age 21.

See, he already had 12 starts for Bayern last season when nothing was expected of him. He's just looking more solid the more we see him, and gaining more experience at the same time.

Na, that's not only last season.
2003/04 - 2 BL, 1 DFB Pokal (BM II)
2004/05 - 4 BL, 4 DFB Pokal (BM II)
2005/06 - 6 BL, 1 CL, 2 DFB Pokal

Well, Kahn was the first keeper of KSC at age 21.

KSC ever was just a small club, so its not that special. If Rensing would play at Bochum he'd be clearly the number one

i agree with most of you here. i think kahn should gradually hand over his position to rensing. i am not worried about rensing the least bit, i think he will probably become number one in the NT as well some day, but that will take a while, maybe as early as the 2010, maybe later. he's got time anyway.

and i wouldnt make to much of his mistakes anyway. even the best goalkeepers misjudge a cross once in a while and he did pull his hand away as soon as e realized the ball was going out. and the ball that hit the crossbar? he wouldnt have gotten that even if he tried. goalkeepers often stay rooted to the ground when they see that they have no chance at all at a long distance shot (i'm not saying this is good). some of you might remember the famous scene with kahn when the frreckick from rosicky landed right at his feet after it had hit the post and he just stoood there.
anyway, my point is that these two mistakes are not too bad and that he will be a wordclass goalie some day, i am sure of that, and we dont have to worry.

i dont think he is capable of replacing kahn, bayern better look for another keeper ie. rene adler
