Stefano Tedeschi has been unveiled as Italy's new "designatore" of referees, the person responsible for appointing officials to matches in Serie A and B.
Tedeschi replaces Maurizio Mattei, who will take over responsibility for training referees.
The appointments come in the wake of the match-fixing scandal which has swept through Italian football in recent months. That scandal emerged when transcripts of phone calls involving former Juventus senior director Luciano Moggi and then-designatore Pierluigi Pairetto were published.
"We know we are coming in (to office) at a difficult time," Tedeschi said. "But our family is a strong one and we will give our best in this situation."

Italian football has a big hole to climb out of ... let's hope Tedeschi is up to the task.
