I've seen Bayern play live at least a dozen times.
Shhhh... not too loud. I don't want to start hearing about how Bayern were cheated out of the 1999 Champions League. :p

...Then we come to the Italy game. In the early portion of this game, there is a header cross in the penalty box that is batted down by an Italian defender's elbow. It does not really look intentional at all, but my knowledge of the rules is that intention does not matter..

Yes Intention does matter, whether it was hand to ball or ball to hand makes a world of difference.

numbers, thanks for the article. A little bit of an exaggeration (especially the middle portion), as I've seen this memorable game on the FIFA site a few months ago.

Having said that, Italy did have a mentality of playing "not to lose" for the longest time. That's why it was refreshing seeing Lippi come out and be more committed to attack. I would have never believed they would have finished the semi with Germany with 4 strikers -- brilliant

i agree with you.....this is one of the reason the referee decision (frings) in the germany-usa worldcup game was ball to hand and no penalty....
