Although I am strongly biased as a River fan I think that Aimar/D'Alessandro would be a great duo, Aimar on the right Andres on the left, specially since both will be playing together in Zaragoza and will have time to built team work. Who did he used in Boca besides Insua & Bilos? Delgado & Schelotto?
I also think that Insua will at least get a chance to make the team since Coco knows him well and if Datolo plays well in Boca he will also get a good opportunity since Coco will coach him for the next months.

D'Alessandro??? cīmon, i know he played as hell in River while he was here, but what about Europe? no, we have better players.
"Maxi Moralez" jajajajajaj, i'd certainly love to see him in the national team, but i think he needs more experience, and although i want him to stay at Racing, he'll need to play in some club for Europe to improve his talent.

Yeah but thanx for D'Alessandro Portsmouth are still playing in the first division! he didnt do much in Germany but he had a hell of a season at England and u really dont have to play in europe in order to be a good player Ortega never played in europe!

you may be right about Europe and I don't denie he's a good player, but we have a lot of players to pick, and I think there are better players than him. Anyway I don't think the coco Basile is even thinking of him right now, but who knows... well, let's hope he does well in Zaragoza

Isn't Aguero more of a striker? Kind of like Tevez? I agree that 2010 far away and it's much too soon to be thinking about playmakers for the next WC. We don't know how a lot of these young players will develop. That said, for Copa America or for our little friendly with Brazil I would like to see Aimar have a go. He hasn't really had a chance yet with Veron and Riquelme upstaging him in the last two WC's. Messi needs to develop a little more in the playmaker role (EXCELLENT midfielder at the moment but not quite a playmaker, definite candidate though for 2010 when he will be hitting his peak). He plays in the wing for Barca so it could be really cool to play Aimar and Messi together since in the Angola friendly and the Mexico game they worked really well together.
I want Aimar at the moment though because I'm worried that he might not make it to the next WC since he will be 31 and the key aspects of his game are his speed and agility. Two things that usually worsen with age :( He needs a chance to prove himself.

I would say Messi has all the arguments (talent, age, experience, ...) to become our next main playmaker.
Though I like Aimar a lot, he is not very reliable, and I think it would be a mistake to count on him for a 3rd WC.

and u really dont have to play in europe in order to be a good player Ortega never played in europe!
Actually Ortega played for both Sampdoria and Parma as well as in Spain with Valencia. If you really want to splice hairs, he played at Fenerbache in Turkey which is partly in Europe. If you really want to get down to it, what did Ortega accomplish after leaving river (where he was awesome)? Good player? Bad example.

I'm not saying that he is going to be our playmaker at the next WC, again I think he age is going to work against him because he won't be as fast. I do think that he should be considered at the moment (for current games). As far as reliability, I consider that to be more of a confidence issue. He was largely overlooked by his coach at Valencia for the past couple of seasons starting with the idiot Ranieri (injuries don't help either I guess). Now that he is at Real Zaragoza I see Aimar improving in that regard. Remember the transformation that Riquelme underwent from moving to Villareal from Barca. I wouldn't discount him as our current playmaker because he is fast and Basile likes fast. I do agree though that Messi is the best bet for playmaker in 2010.

I think of Messi/Tevez/Aguero as outside strikers not really enganches or playmakers. I guess it depends on your point of view and I am sure Messi and Aguero could play the position if needed but you would lose their speed and aggressiveness up front. I am saying they shouldn't be in the starting team just not as the main playmakers.
D'Alessandro might not have won a title in Germany but he played for Wolfburg (not exactly a top team) and managed to make them relevant for the first time ever. While Aimar might not make it to S. Africa he can still be counted for Copa America and then wait and see who is playing how and where for S. Africa.

Messi is a midfielder, he would be perfect in the Enganche role. Some people still have some difficulty grasping this fact. The real waste would be to play him as a forward like Pekerman did. Messi is still nowhere near reaching his true potential. He did showcase his brilliant vision during the WC with Argentina and he will develop into a true maradonesque player in the near future.
Insua will probably get a call with Basile in charge. Good player but not NT caliber yet. I see D'alessandro as a fixture in the NT. His plays at River are still haunting my memory. I am not sure how he performed in Germany but I do know that he was limited by the coaching staff who forced defensive tasks on him. We all saw what he is capable of under a coach who understands his talent. He is still young and will surprise many people this season in Spain.
You listed many interesting names with potential. Need to watch more of them this season.
