How ironic.
I just pulled that CD out a few nights ago. I have had it on heavy heavy rotation in my room since.
Even the mediocre songs fit perfectly together.
Too bad their second LP just can't compare.

Turns Into Stone is also oustanding - a collection of their other stuff from late 80's early 90's including Elephant Stone, One Love and Fools Gold.

They have a Hendrixy B-side instrumental called 'Moses' which rocks.

Moses can be found on 'Ten Story Love Song.' I just listened to the single today....
The Second Coming is obviously not as good as the first CD, but it does have its moments.
Garage Flower is also a good CD, if you can find it. The songs on the CD are either unreleased or early version of released songs. It is still an excellent CD.

Pitchfork created a list recently: Top 100 Albums of the 80s, where The Stone Roses placed at 39.
I thought this guys capsule review of the record was pretty good.

The Stone Roses arrived so fully formed upon the release of their debut that it destroyed them altogether. The Mat's "Tim" at 37? I love the Mats as much as anyone, but that was their weakest record I thought.

Anyone ever hear the remix to "Shoot You Down"? It was popular in the UK about 2 years ago... it was the original remixed and sampled by a DJ... I'll have to pick it up at home to get the details.

Everyone has to listen to the Stone Roses. I do like the "Second Coming" a lot. Of course the first one is great, but something about "Drivin South" is just the coolest song.
If you know someone who isn't cool, break out "Drivin South", "Fools Gold" and "I wanna be adored" - if they don't cool up after that - well get a shovel and dig their grave.
