Addicks: Rumours

I wanted to start this thread since we are linked to many players but not many of those rumours have become Summer Signings.

We are rumoured to be after:

Amdy Faye -- Newcastle -- We need a tough tackler, someone tougher than Kishishev. Would probably team up well with Fiore [see below].

Boyce - Crystal Palace -- Would start at left back. Also linked with Wigan.

Djimi Traore -- Liverpool -- Would also start at left back. Many Addicted would rather not acquire Traore [can anything good come from Liverpool?].

Stefano Fiore -- Valencia [was on loan at Fiorentina] -- An attacking midfielder who scores. He had 6 goals for the Italian squad in 36 appearances with only 2 as a sub. I wonder how many assists he had? He has Champions League and UEFA Cup experience. Man City also linked with him. But we have a new relationship with Valencia. Hope that helps put him in Charlton red. If you can't tell, the mention of any central attacking mid does excite me. Especially since there is no real chance we are getting Sidwell.

Andreas Isaksson -- Rennes -- Starter for Sweden's World Cup squad. Mhyre and Andersen have done, well, good. This would be a step up I think.


I'm still concerned that we need central defenders, an experienced left back, a tougher tackling dmid, and an attacking mid. I'm not as worried about outside mid or strikers. We seem to be okay there.

Tottenham are set to make a new bid for Wigan defender Pascal Chimbonda - by offering a swap deal involving Danny Murphy and Andy Reid, plus cash. (Daily Mirror)

O Danny Boy, wouldn't have been better to just buckle down and play for the Addicks, what with an almost assured starting spot every week?

I'd like to see Chimbonda in red. I don't know about his attitude regarding "being on a big team" .... but right now I bet he'd be desperate to avoid the bench on the Wigan Reserve squad week after week....the question is, will Wigan sell?

Skysports.com understand Charlton have agreed fees for Djimi Traore and Amdy Faye.

It would be nice to have both of them. We need some experience and depth at left back and a truer dmid than Kishishev.

Now, how about an attacking center mid? The Spaniard? And Italian?

New one is that we are getting keeper Greene from Norwich. Part of the exchange to be a player [Lisbie?].

Though the young keeper is still suffering from a groin injury, I think it would be a great addition. Give him the number 1 and let's get on with it.

Rumour is he finally, finally wants out -- before the window closes.

Word has it that DeMarcus Beasley wants out of PSV. But he is looking to go back to the MLS.

Would we want him at the Valley? Or do we have enough wingers with Rommedahl, Thomas, Bolanos, Sam? Or is it just a matter of getting another good player?

Yes, I didn't include Ambrose in that winger list. But then, I really want to see him in the middle, possessing the ball and going at people, and making that last pass. I know that he can do that. Ask U21 manager Taylor.

I say, pay the money and get him in. We need help in central defense. And although Faye did a great job filiing in, he needs to be the dmid.
