In a somewhat positive development for Monaco, Jérémy Ménez is apparently on French NT manager Domenech's radar.

Personally, though I think he had a good season, I don't think he's at the same level as the others at the moment. Hopefully though he'll get help in the off-season, then we can see more flashes of his occasional brilliance and class on a more consistent basis.

what do u guys think of the Colombian Juan Pablo Pino?? He was very good during our sub 20 this summer and was hoping he'd get a call up to copa america but hasnt... is he still injured?

Pino's been quite exciting, I would say, when he's come on, but he hasn't had much of an opportunity to do so. Although now that Ricardo is in charge, perhaps it'll be different, and there could be an available spot in midfield considering that Yaya appears on his way out. We'll have to see.
As for whether he's injured, I don't think so. However, his not being called up could have a lot more due to Colombia having a bunch of good players right now. Another who didn't get called up and I believe will be very good in L1 is Freddy Guarín of Saint-Etienne.

Yea Guarin is very exciting player he is one of my favorites right now but almost none of our great youth players are coming like Cristian Zapata of Udinese,italy who might be going to AC MIlan, nor Carlos Sanchez who was just announced to be going to a team in france Valenciennes. Also we were supose to bring a Cb called Walter José Moreno but he is going to a team in france as well and was dropped from the team...
I think our coach is basically just bringing players to export to europe is what I thikn he is shooting for and testing our some vets. I heard that PSG might Sell Mario Yepes who is our new captain, they will be sorry cause he is an amazing CB.

I've heard of Zapata. Terrific defender, dominant in the air and on the ground. I can't say I know the others, though.
Anyway, back to Monaco for a bit, I'll have to admit I'd be sad to see Yaya go because it looked as if he started to play well in the second half of the season. However, as it appears we're getting around 12-20 million euros for him, it may not be a bad idea to sell him, though at the moment he's likely my favorite ASM player.
After all, we have in midfield/attack the aforementioned Pino, Nimani, Ménez and Gakpé coming up.
Hopefully Ricardo is able to mold all the elements together and form a winning team.

I dont believe Toure will be gone yet. Whever he goes I doubt he'll get much playing time at a huge club. More benefical for him to stay here. I dont know how anyone could have a favorite player on the team other than Givet. He is the captain, the man, and he's been there at the club since he was 14. He is a loyal Monegasque. He's my favorite player by a long mile for like 5 years now.

Hey, Givet definitely represents everything that we like about the club, no doubt, and he's one of the true Monaco players, definitely. When I meant favorite, it was more about exciting/intriguing than anything else, not about being a role model as both a teammate and defender. Anyway, Givet definitely has given everything he has to the club and I can only hope that he'll captain the team to glory.
As for Yaya, I agree that it's better for him to stay here, but if we get 20 million euros in return, that could do a world of good. :)

I'm not too upset about him leaving because the team is coming off a mediorce season where they were mid table and I get more upset about a good player leaving if the team is coming off a good season and playing in Europe. I dont blame players for wanting to leave if they are on bad teams. I understand if Toure wants to leave based on the season they had but I dont understand why someone like Ribery wanting to leave after his club had a good season.

Patrick Colleter s’est engagé aujourd’hui pour deux ans en faveur de l’AS Monaco FC. Il rejoint le technicien brésilien Ricardo, dont il sera l’un des adjoints.
Né le 6 novembre 1965 à Brest, Patrick Colleter a successivement évolué à Brest, Montpellier, au PSG, à l’OM, Southampton et Cannes. C’est sous les couleurs du Paris Saint-Germain que ce solide et spectaculaire arrière latéral enrichit son palmarès : un titre de champion de France (1994), deux Coupes de France (1993,1995), une Coupe de la Ligue (1995) et une Coupe d’Europe des vainqueurs de Coupe (1996).
Il noue alors une complicité et une amitié solides avec l’un de ses partenaires de la défense parisienne : Ricardo. Lorsque le technicien brésilien est nommé à Bordeaux, en 2005, il fait aussitôt appel à Patrick Colleter au poste d’adjoint. Aujourd’hui, c’est tout naturellement que ce duo d’expérience est reconstitué sous les couleurs de l’AS Monaco FC

Ricardo, que représente l'AS Monaco FC à vos yeux ?
Monaco est un grand club. Il y a forcément une grande motivation à venir travailler ici. A l'ASM FC, je pourrai développer un travail important, avec un bon effectif. Quand j'ai été contacté, je me suis immédiatement interessé à cette proposition. J'ai été très content et très fier d'avoir cette opportunité et j'ai hâte de retrouver mes joueurs sur le terrain.
Quels objectifs vous fixez-vous avec votre nouveau club ?
Comme je viens de le dire, c'est un grand club. Je suis donc ici pour jouer le haut de tableau. Je connais Monaco depuis que je suis arrivé en France, en 1991. Cette année-là, le club était déjà en Coupe d'Europe, et l'année suivante en finale de la Coupe des Coupes. En 2005, lorsque je suis revenu à Bordeaux, Monaco avait toujours une bonne équipe : le club venait de disputer une autre finale européenne, celle de la Champions League. Franchement, je pense que la saison prochaine, nous pourrons jouer le haut du tableau et être en course pour l'Europe jusqu'au bout.
On vous colle l'étiquette d'un entraîneur au style défensif, cela peut-il concorder avec le style monégasque ?
(Rires) Je m'attendais à cette question. On ne peut pas comparer les équipes et les époques. A mon arrivée à Bordeaux, le groupe doutait beaucoup. Comment pouvais-je redonner rapidement confiance à cette équipe ? C'est simple : il ne fallait déjà pas prendre de but ! Lorsque j'entrainais au PSG, je jouais plus offensif car l'équipe doutait moins. A Monaco, il est clair qu'un style défensif est incompatible avec la tradition du club. Nous avons de nombreux joueurs de talent en attaque. Le public veut une équipe qui produit du spectacle, du beau jeu... Mais il faut penser à trouver un équilibre. L'effectif de l'AS Monaco FC me paraît équilibré, nous partons sur de bonnes bases.
Avez-vous déjà un schéma tactique en tête ?
J'ai une préférence pour le 4-4-2 offensif. Maintenant, il faut me laisser quelques jours pour analyser la situation. Est-ce que nous avons les joueurs capables de jouer ainsi ? Nous poursuivons notre réflexion avec les dirigeants. Je suis donc plutôt parti pour un 4-4-2 classique même si je suis conscient qu'actuellement nous n'avons peut-être pas les ailiers dont nous aurions besoin, mais nous avons le temps d'y remédier.
Avez-vous déjà défini les postes que vous souhaiteriez renforcer ?
Je suis en train d'analyser l'effectif mais il est de qualité, j'ai confiance pour démarrer mon travail. Il me faut désormais connaître mes joueurs et ce n'est qu'en travaillant tous les jours avec eux que je pourrai avoir une idée précise de leurs qualités. Parfois, on change d'avis en voyant évoluer à chaque entraînement un joueur. Mais pour vous répondre, nous avons besoin d'un arrière gauche et d'un deuxième poste, mais je le garde pour moi et mes dirigeants (sourire). Ce sera de toute façon au milieu de terrain...
La présence de Patrick Colleter à vos côtés est-elle un élément primordial pour vous ?
Oui, il est important pour moi d'avoir mes repères. Il me suit depuis 1991 et j'ai toute confiance en lui. Quand je ne suis pas bien, quand je suis fâché, il est présent pour faire le lien avec les joueurs.
Quel est votre programme pour ces prochains jours ?
Je reste à Monaco jusqu'à mercredi, ensuite je m'accorde une petite semaine au Brésil. Mais ce seront des vacances studieuses. Je vais notamment pouvoir visionner des matches de l'ASM FC et je resterai en contact permanent avec les dirigeants.
Etes-vous conscient qu'il y a beaucoup d'attente autour de votre arrivée ?
Cela me fait plaisir que l'on attende autant de moi, ça ne me pose pas de problèmes !
Le centre de formation de l'AS Monaco FC fait aussi partie de la tradition rouge et blanche. Pensez-vous vous appuyer sur les jeunes ?
A Bordeaux, j'ai donné leur chance aux jeunes. Ici, ce sera la même chose. Un bon centre de formation, c'est l'avenir et la qualité de celui de l'ASM FC n'est plus à prouver.
Comment voyez-vous votre avenir à Monaco ?
Je ne suis pas venu ici pour faire un an, deux ans et partir. Je veux m'inscrire dans la durée !

Google translations arent good but I have to use them to understand things. I looked at your OL blog after you posted the link and it looked kinda cool. There was some post there by some dude named "Magicfan" who was blasting Aulas and OL and I found it hilarious because Magicfans are a group St. Etienne supporters and I find that group name to be really funny and dumb both at the same time. I get a chuckle out of that name MAGIC FANS. Definately a dumb and not cool name.

Haha, I had no idea there was a history behind the name. MagicFan is a Liverpool fan and doesn't think too highly about the French league (typical EPL arrogance :rolleyes: ).
