it's hardly fair for me to just waltz in here to cut ASM to ribbons, but remember it's not the club i hate. and the prince seems like a fine man. but it's hard to keep inside all the good i feel about ricardo.

when he started at bordeaux he had to make do with what he had, but what annoyed was that the club gradually built him a nice little team to play with and he didn't seem to notice.

this weekend he made the opposite mistake: smug about coming away from marseilles with a point, he obviously hadn't seen that his team played badly enough to make his trademark bricks and mortar style fully justified, and anything else suicide. even at home against slow starters lille.

no percussion, no movement, no engagement in the duels, and above all no imagination. nothing but hoofing it forward to nimani. first shot on target came after almost an hour of play. dreadful.

on defense not much better. no one able to beat de melo in the air, modesto completely out to lunch including a goal that finally was attributed to cabaye. the only possible sources of satisfaction are ruffier and... n'koulou. watch out de bontin! he's going to get very tired playing with a herd of goats, perhaps as early as this january.

as for park and adu... these are second division players and no more. perhaps ASM is simply looking ahead?

Adu is probably a second division player but I'm not ready to say that about Park yet. I guess I should be upset Adu isnt playing because its making people on this site hate the club and I thought the goal was to get more fans.

They won't get any more fans with the crappy games they've been playing lately, regardless of Adu playing or not.

Well its too bad they play in the French league because they can't "buy their way out of this mess" tax advantages or not. You play in France you cant go on spending sprees to try to fix things. Have to rely heavily on homegrown players regardless of who you are unless youre Lyon maybe and OM. Even PSG isnt excluded. Maybe the old Monaco could sign a bunch of foreign stars to try to improve but times are different now.

I think if people are willing to wait a while and see the team develop, the team has a shot at doing well. We were not the CFA champion among professional clubs for nothing. Although yes, at this very moment, some of the players at this stage of their development are closer to being second division than being stars in L1. I don't have any confidence at all in de Bontin, but I have enough confidence in the management at the Monaco academy that we can produce guys who will eventually star in the team, if not, we'll get some good money. Case in point, a Ruffier today is worth a lot more than he was a year ago, N'Koulou was gotten over the winter for chump change and he's been our best defender. Nimani is apparently being watched by Juve, Arsenal and Inter.

well, things could be worse... because there's only one team in france that i have really always hated... Et qui n'est, chaque fois, ni tout à fait la même, ni tout à fait une autre...

whichever one elie baup happens to be coaching. :D

Two straight wins. 6 goals in 2 games. Things are looking up.

Call me a skeptic. We went against Nancy at home whom we have a very good record against (what happened the previous season is an exception), and against an HAC team who happen to be bottom of the table.

On the plus side, though, N'Koulou has been our best defender. We got him for nothing, and he has done very well. Ruffier has also impressed.

I read that the club is close to bankruptcy.

I won't comment on that.

The one interesting though is that we've actually played "attractive" football in the 2 victories, i.e. not the Ricardo style one would expect. Though I expect a lock-down when l'OL come to Louis II this weekend. Who knows, perhaps Nimani will get a header over Boumsong or Boumsong scores an own goal so we win 1-0.

Why wont you comment on it ? I know they've been in financial trouble before but the prince always bailed them out, correct ? I'm wondering how stong they were financially in 2004 when they had their last great team.

It was a scrappy victory by lyon against you guys yesterday. You guys turned it on in the final 20 minutes and made it difficult for us. If that would have been the entire game, you might have had us there.

wow, no action on this thread since that CdF thing i still mean to translate for y'all someday...

just wanted to voice my rant on a perfect day 19 being spoiled by a player i like (chamakh) but also by a player i don't... adu. bordeaux's equalizer and winner both originate in the fact that this kid is just not cut out for real professional football. 10 minutes of him on the field is 10 minutes to many.

I agree guignol but dont go over to the Yanks abroad forum and say that because they seem to have a different viewpoint over there. Nothing but Ricardo bashing on how he's an idiot for not playing the great talent Freddy Adu. I agree Ricardo's tactics are bad and he should go but not playing Adu enough isnt the problem. Theres an overall lack of talent at many positions.

I agree guignol but dont go over to the Yanks abroad forum and say that...he he he... don't give me any ideas!

really adu didn't look much better out there than I would have... it's been a long time since i saw a player who was so woefully out of place on a football pitch. if he didn't have his marketing value he would have to fight tooth and nail for a spot on a CFA team.

that defense sucks!!!!! after 2 years it seem s that juan pablo pino adapted to the team yes, pino looked very good.

I'm still trying to figure out if its good or bad for the French league to have this club down and not contending. I guess its bad because they have a history of great football and great players and we could use as many teams seriously challenging Lyon as we can get. On the other hand, people got tired of them using their tax advantages to sign players and many thought that was unfair(remember certain club presidents wanted an extra European spot if ASM got into Europe because they werent French) and since they arent really loved or hated many dont seem to care that they stink now. I do know they got really good tv ratings in France for their matches during their Champions League run so people will watch them if they have a team worth watching.
