We have secured the signing of one of our main targets, probably the most widely known this summer. Fergie has kept the rest of his cards pretty close to his chest. The media's running rampant, having wet dreams and linking us with every Midfielder plying his trade on a football pitch.
We know Gattuso is not coming although he would have been the perfect player alongside Carrick. In my previous poll 45% votes went out for Carrick, 12.3% for mascherano and 19% odd for Kuscak and surprisingly only 2% for Diarra.
If we do land another Mid who will it be?

My heart goes with Mascherano, however it looks a little unlikely. It could be that Fergie brings in a beast(yaya or appiah)

I know he hasn't been mentioned, but what about Van Bommel? It's been rumored he wants out of Barcelona. Would Fergie pull the trigger on that, and would you all be pleased?

Honestly, I'd rather have someone a bit younger (Van Bommel is 29), but DM is a dire need. And if we can't land our one of our main targerts (all of those on the above list), wouldn't he be an adequate backup plan?

Don't know if Van Bom really wants out of Barca, but I'd be really happy to have him. Could be useful for 3 years. I think everyone here really would prefer Mascherano though. Young, and could join to form a stable nuclei for the next-generation of at least up to 5 years.

Good luck trying to get him. Rijkaard will probably implement a rotation policy somewhat like the special one's at Chelski which will see the midfield players Xavi, Iniesta, Deco, Van Bommel, Edmilson, and possibly Motta getting split time. I think its a great idea as now MVB might be coaxed to stay on for a few more years.
