IS it possible for 2 teams to face eachother TWICE in a World cup? Say, Fiji and Canada are in the same group, and they both make it out of there group. And they both go undefeated throught the whole tournemet. cant they meet and end up facing eachother twice? even the the possibilities of that would be slim. Can this happen? has it ever happened before?

Brazil and Turkey did in 2002.

Not in the 2006 World Cup.. The first place team would go on one side of the bracket, and the second place team would go on the other, so the only way they could face each other once again was in the final..

Yes, this could have happened every WC since 1954 (most of the time only in the Final or 3rd place game). Due to the 24 team format and the special setup in 2002, it could also happen in the Semi-Finals. If I got it right, it did happen in:
2002 Brazil - Turkey (SF)
1994 Brazil - Sweden (SF)
1982 Italy - Poland (SF)
1962 Brazil - Czechoslovakia (F)
1954 West Germany - Hungary (F)
If you include Group Playoffs (1954 & 1958 formats) you can also add:
1958 Northern Ireland - Czechoslovakia
1958 Wales - Hungary
1958 USSR - England
1954 West Germany - Turkey
1954 Switzerland - Italy
I replays are also included (1934 & 1938 format):
1938 Brazil - Czechoslovakia (QF)
1938 Cuba - Romania (R1)
1938 Switzerland - Germany (R1)
1934 Italy - Spain (QF)

Fiji and Canada? Both advance from their group? Both undefeated? In that case, the world would stop spinning, and Good and Evil would have started their final battle for control of the universe.

Haha, yea but in a nuclear atack I think a few footballers from those countries have a better than average chance of surviving ...get your Fiji face paint on.....

I know this isn't World Cup, but in 2004, Greece and Portugal met in the finals after both getting out of their group.

And the same can happen in the WC.

yes, in fact i know for sure this is possible.
think back to i believe the 1996 olympics where the women's national team beat Norway in their group, then went on to play them in the semi's and lost.
sad, but true.

no matter what the format, it's possible.
either final or semi-final, or maybe even the quarter or 1/8th finals in some kind of twisted format.
if they don't lose in knockout rounds,(or get out of the second group stage) they'll eventually face each other.
