More (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/grant_wahl/07/25/mailbag/index.html)from the US's best soccer writer.

His reservations about Yallop and Nowak are something to think about, but certainly not deal breakers in the event that JK doesn't accept the job. In fact, I don't see much of a dropoff from JK to the second level of candidates, despite the fact I'd love to see him named.

Additionally, the Sports Guy's article picking THFC got a lot of run around here. I'm pleased to see Wahl point out (somewhat to TSG) that he could just head down to the Home Depot Center or a USA/Mexico qualifier to find the same level of fan passion and enthusiasm.

Enjoy.

It is good to see, because I felt the same way reading Bill Simmons article. We can and have been working on creating that here. My sister-in-law and her bf live in LA and I've been trying to get them to check out a "Super Clasico" game as well. Once you're in that kind of an atmosphere, it's hard to go back.

And how many US/Mexico WC qualifiers and/or Chivas-Galaxy matches are there in any given year? 4? I get Wahl's point, but it's really nothing like the atmosphere at most matches in the Prem. Yes, I know, there are plenty of Fulham-West Brom matches too, but if it's week-to-week atmosphere, we ain't got it here.....yet.

...you bomb down to the nation's capital to hang with the MLS' best team (D.C. United) and its most raucous fan club (the Barra Brava).
Cheers!;)
