it's more fun to work out with friends:

but if alone, concentrate hard on your solo session:

try extracurricular activities in addition to bodybuilding:

look your best and remain positive:

A beer is cool...but just one...I mean atleast try...

I like to stick to Jack or Capt. Morgans on ice or with diet coke...No calories there.

sounds like you need to get overall strength first...

number one...cut your calorie intake to 2500-3000 calories a day...Buy edible snaks (low fat cheese, lunch meats) to eat during the day instead of actually going out to eat for lunch.

at night (i prefer at night, but think early morning is actually better) do twenty minutes of cardio...Hit it hard like 85%....If you cant do twenty, do 10min and walk the other 10...you bike ride so this might not be for you..

It sounds like you are having "framing" issues....First thing is to get your stength up... for that you need to do total body workouts aka "core" workouts...

Since the your back is the "platform" the rest of your body hangs off...you should hit that up first...

1. Deadlift with a bar...This the number back strength excercize...
2. cable rows...this will develop your wings/lats
3. military pull ups...upper back

do the back excercizes here

the dumbell row is what you are thinking...

but they dont show the deadlift...which is a "core" workout, it does your legs, back and shoulders all at the same time...

remeber the holy trinity...
dead lift
bench press
squats

you could do those back excercizes and a set of bench press and a set of squats all in one hour only two times a week...

In a month, you see damatic improvement in your strength and looks. Remember, its not about beach muscle at this stage its about getting your strength up so you can then do more isolation muscle excercizes.

in that case by some heavy dumbells and do the dead lifts with that in the garage or something...

if no gym... the holy trinity changes...

push ups
sit ups
pull ups

I reccomend when onyour bike ride... half way through it... stop at a park that has those pull up bars...

three sets..

30 push ups

fifty of these
http://www.gesundheitpro.de/media/F050805ANOND017511/F050805ANOND017669/67186situps_i4.jpg

if you can hit at least 8 pull ups on one try then try to reach a total of 30, doesnt matter if it takes you 5 minutes from pullup 29 to 30...
