There is a possibility that the cap Adu earned with the U.S. versus Canada locks him into playing for the U.S., but he isn't sure of that.
"I've heard both ways," Adu said. "I think I'm still eligible to play for either team. We will see. I don't want to say, 'I won't play for this team, I'm going to play for that team.' I want the chance to play."
Adu confirmed that Hackworth's guess about his preference is valid: "If I'm going to make either team, I want to make the team of the United States."

I read that article too, I thought since there wasn't that Andrea Canales couldn't think of anything else to write on so he updated the Adu project.:D

Well, I am.

tell it to Freddy's agent, oh omnicient one.

tell me, have you ever admitted to being wrong? not just in Bigsoccer, but like, in your entire life? I'd even accept not being entirely sure of being absolutly correct.

Why should he? Humility is a false virtue.

Is he? How so? It seems even Freddy is acknowledging he may be wrong about having a choice.

he may not be right either.

If Freddy thinks he might be eligible for Ghana, that means his agent probably thinks that to.

All I'm saying is that it's in area of grey. It's not Black and White.

His agent might have an agenda, though. Isn't Freddy's agent none other than former Ghana international Tony Yeboah (who I've heard is also his uncle)?

Humility is a false virtue.

We should put that on our currency.

In the last 5 years perusing these boards, I've admission of error maybe twice.

So if you are Freddy's agent, and your financial well being is tied to his, just who do you think you'd want him playing for?

Well, if you're Yeboah, you may have a pro-Ghana agenda.

But more importantly, if you're Freddy's agent, and your financial well-being is tied to his, you try your best to make sure he plays for a national team by telling each of them he just might play for the other! If the USMNT coach is convinced by your leveraging the two teams against each other, Freddy gets, at a minimum, a WCQ or Gold Cup cap.

Really, it's just like the Michael Ricketts saga all over again. Except that unlike Ricketts, who got a cap for England after continually telling Sven he might jump to the United States, only to show that he wasn't good enough for England (or the US for that matter), Freddy actually is talented enough to play for either the US or Ghana. But just as it turned out Ricketts wasn't actually eligible to play for the US, Freddy, due to the combination of official youth NT competitions and a senior NT cap, isn't eligible to play for Ghana.

What makes him think that if he fails to make the US team he will make Ghana's team?

']What makes him think that if he fails to make the US team he will make Ghana's team?

Not about fail. But about US Coach (implies Arena) DOESN'T like his playing style . Like those coaches come up with a system that find his kids to fit in that system?

For example, like Sigi rated a college kid named Dalby more valuable for his system than a certain player named Bradley? Or like Arena believed that Olsen, Carroll are better than Rico Clark, such as Clark handle all those works by himself, but Olsen/Carroll combine together to do same work?
