From this article, I learned that
http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-women_interview&prov=reuters&type=lgns
1) The Washington Freedom has disappeared into sports history.
2) The New York Red Bulls apparently move into their own stadium in Newark, NJ next year. Yeah!
Way to go Steve James. It's good to see another journalist who takes pride in his craft!

The Washington Freedom Soccer Club has continued as the countries only professional women's team since the WUSA folded. The coaching staff remains intact, and the team plays a barmstorming schedule against amateur (W-League) and college teams. They're also hold youth camps and other exhibitions. They are the team owned by John Hendricks, the main investor behind the WUSA.

If the Red Bulls play in "New York", then what's so horrible about saying they're moving to Newark?
They'll be within just about literally within a stone's throw of Newark anyway.

Next year? Really? If they're leaving Giants Stadium, where exactly are they going to play next year?

Oh, well, there's that too. I thought you meant the Newark (instead of Harrison) thing.

It'd be easy to forgive for the Freedom thing. I only know about that team by happenstance, and I live here.
Newark, Harrison, Atlantic City -- all those Jersey towns run together. :)
