A few years ago an article asked the question which is better is at drama arts or sports? I'll ask it here. Since this forum is sports I guess most posters here would say sports. I'm in the minority. I think it's no contest. Sports are great and its emotional impact is comparable to arts. But nothing in sports can match the intellectual and ultimately transcendental experience that the best arts offer.

Arts by a mile, and this is coming from a huge sports fan.

Stuff like Red Sox-Yankees in 2004 or the World Series in 2001, Dernmark and Greece European Champions, Champions' League 1999 or UEFA Cup 2001, Stanley Cup finals that go to 7 games, Steve Smith 1986 or Doug Flutie 1984 are all absolutely amazing but thus is the nature of sport and at the end of the day, people rarely die (in context).

Arts have brothers killing each other, lovers betraying each other and *anything* you can imagine. Take the most dramatic sports moment ever and compare it to, say, Oedipus's story. Not exactly a photo finish.

By the way, what would you guys rate the most dramatic sports moment ever?

I would say arts as well, but a touch is lost when you know the outcome. Also, arts replicating sports makes for some of the worst movies ever. I'd rather watch Titanic three times than have to watch The Natural again.

Most dramatic sports moment ever? My short list includes the Miracle on Ice from the 80 Olympics, Kerri Strug's vault, Landis' ride last Thursday (though I didn't see this), and Kirk Gibson's HR in the 88 (?) World Series. Aaron hitting number 715 must have been pretty special, too.
