I think Sharleen Spitieri is pretty damn cute, in a sort of undefinable way, and 'Say What You Want' was a really good pop song. 'Halo' wasn't bad either.

Oh, THAT Texas! Texas is a big state, isn't it? What do you mean by Texas Music?
When I say Texas music I mean artists like Robert Earl Keen Jr, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, Pat Green, Cory Morrow, Roger Creager, Cross Canadian Ragweed (although they are from Stillwater OK), Dub Miller, Charlie Robison, Jack Ingram etc... It is like country but not so mainstream. Alot like the old Willie, Waylon, Cash, anti Nashville sound from back in the day.
Of course there is more to Texas Music than just that. There are alot of good groups from that great state. From Pushmonkey, and Flickerstick, to Lyle Lovett...it is boundless. I gess it could be any number of genres but I was going for the alt country sound.

The greatest band currently in Texas is Pleasant Grove. If you're ever in Dallas or Ft. Worth and have the chance to see them, don't miss 'em. Absolutely spectacular.

...and just to add, yes they are friends of mine, but I've had alot of friends in bands and these guys are the only ones that really just wow me.

The greatest band currently in Texas is Blur - they played SXSW yesterday (and according to what I heard on the radio, it was a white-hot ticket, which is kind of funny.)
But I know what you mean. I'll have to download some Pleasant Grove.

Old 97s, baby. Please, please go on tour together. Rhett, you're ok solo, but I think you really need your real band with you.

Yeah, to me that's Texas music! CFH!!!!!
At the Drive-In was OK. ZZ Top was tolerable, too, until MTV. Pissing Razors and King's X not bad either.
Two of my favorite old punk bands were originally from Texas, too -- The Dicks and Verbal Abuse. Both moved to SF in the early 80s. I hate MDC, but I think they were originally from Texas as well.
But my Texas "guilty pleasure" would be metal pop band Galactic Cowboys. They rocked, especially live.
