View Full Version : Soccer magazines: Which are the best for employment opportunities?

I figured I would start a topic like this here because it seems to be the best place. I was wondering which soccer magazines, and by that I mean anything that has to do with soccer at all, that are looking for contributing writers/staff. I am a recent college grad with a BA in journalism and soccer has always been my favorite topic to write about. If anyone knows of any soccer magazines that need writers, just reply to this. Thanks.

Also, I have had plans for a while now to start up a website that would allow anyone that loves to write about soccer to upload their articles as word docs. If anyone would love this idea for a site and would want to write for a site like this (there was one a while back called soccerwriter.com and it was a wonderful idea) just either reply or send me a PM. Thanks.

I'd be interested in writing for your website.
Let me know.

if you're talking about US based magazines, they're looking for readers, not employees.

I need to get into this thing as well. Well if I ever want to be that sports/soccer journalist I keep talking about.

Why not start your own soccer blog. it's free and if your writing is good, you'll get lots of visitors.

Check out: http://usasoccer.blogspot.com/ for example (or any other soccer blog link listed)

Aren't there too many blogs out there now?

That's great that there's an interest for a site like this. I'll be honest and say that I've only made personal webpages before and never one like this, so I'd have to learn how, but I definitely see it happening in the somewhat near future. If anyone has ideas or suggestions for the site let me know cause I think it would be great for people to showcase their writing skills.

I thought about starting my own blog for soccer, but I like the idea of actually writing articles that could be used in say a magazine, somewhere online or any other soccer related medium out there. I want it to be a showcase of people's talents in writing, not just their opinion. Blogs are great in their own way, but I wanted to be slightly different with this site. I want to have a comment section as well and possibly maybe eventually a forum. I think it would be great because everyone on the site would already be interested in writing and could make for great networking of people in the field.

Hey guys, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you all about this. Over the past month or so I've really dedicated a lot of my time to finding a full-time job and it looks like I'll be starting work very soon. Just wanted to say I've started work on the web site and have registered a domain name: http://worldsoccerwriter.com so expect something relatively soon.

Well, actually I'm hopefully getting a job with a payroll company doing customer service lol but I hope to eventually obtain my dream job as a soccer/feature story/analitical writer. I can't say exactly when I'll be done with the site (still learning it all lol) but hopefully I can get it running soon.

Well if you need any help, please let me know.
I see you are in Trenton. I am in Brooklyn, not super far away.
I want something writing about soccer and culture ... lots of work to do to ever achieve that goal!
Let me know what I can do.
