Nitro G was sent off this week for both ignoring the little girl's pleas for help and for neglecting Stan Lee's instructions to not change into his superhero costume in plain sight.
The show does seem to have a bit of a bit of a corny charm to it. I'll at least check out the next episode. :)

This show is the cheezyest, but I lurve it! Gonna get me a superhero alter-ego, terrible costume, and start practicing suiting up in a garbage can! Season 2, here I come?!

Just don't trust any superhero named Rotiart (since we now know what that is spelled backwards  ) and don't forget to help the little girl find her mother. ;)

I enjoyed the first episode, but I don't think a second season will work as well. As with "Survivor", the contestants on the second season watched the first season so they knew how to make alliances, etc. For WWTBAS, everyone will know all the tricks from the first season, like always be on the lookout for little girls to rescue.
That said, I'm rooting for Major Victory and Monkey Woman, and I hope the Iron Enforcer gets kicked off soon. :D

Now on the other hand, if they want to make the second season "Who Wants To Be A Supervillian"... that might be interesting.

Even when watching the beginning of the first episode, the only reason why I suspected that Nitro G wouldn't last more than an episode or two was that I only saw him in one or two of the show's promo shots, whereas I've seen the remaining contestants in practically all of the promo shots.
From here on out, though, I have no idea who'll be chosen to leave.
In any case, the second episode airs tomorrow (Thursday, 8/3/06). :)

This week's episode was certainly an interesting one, to say the least. :)
Something tells me that Dark Enforcer will be a more intimidating villian than Rotiart was.

This week's episode was very well done. I was not expecting the twist at the end at all, but it makes sense in the context of the show (and coincidentally shoots down my "Who Wants To Be a Supervillian" idea). I am now wondering if "Iron Enforcer" was a plant all along, like "Rotiart" was in the first episode.

My guess is that unlike Rotiart, Iron Enforcer was indeed a contestant who had auditioned and all that. But perhaps Stan Lee told him then that while his character wouldn't make for an ideal hero (for the show, anyway), that he'd make a good "fallen-hero" villian.
Just a guess, though. In any case, it should be interesting how it all turns out. :)

That's the most likely scenario, but the more I think about it, the more I expect to find out that not all of the contestants are who they seem.
I think that Tyveculus could be a plant. He got the cheesy costume from Stan and they had this manufactured drama where he went to ask for his old costume back. It just seemed off to me.
I think that some of the other contestants may be plants as well. Creature and Lemuria don't seem quite real to me -- it just seems like those aren't the kind of superhero names (and costumes) that superhero wannabes want to come up with. Feedback may also be a plant -- that scene where he made fun of Tyveculus also seemed off.
The only ones who seem really earnest to me and act like I think real people would if they were pretending to be superheroes are Major Victory, Monkey Woman, and Fat Momma.
This may end up looking more like "Joe Schmo" than "Survivor" as far as reality shows go. Or maybe I'm way off.

That probably wouldn't surprise me, nor would the necessity of doing that surprise me.
Despite being a reality show, the contestants still have to act like superheroes to an extent (which already differentiates it from most reality shows where there isn't really a set way that the contestants are "supposed to" act). I would imagine that there's not that many "real people" (i.e. non-actors) that can really do that, despite their belief to the contrary (similarly to how most auditioners for American Idol think they can sing but truly can't): most real people have an inate inability to constantly crack clever one-liners and act even somewhat superheroic, instead mumbling "Uh... I guess.", "Yeah.. whatever.", "Um... okay.", etc. and basically acting like their ordinary selves. The contestants playing Major Victory, Monkey Woman, and Fat Momma may be among the few exceptions to the rule.
So even if it's true that most of the contestants are plants, it may be a "necessary evil" for this particular show. It certainly doesn't make the show any less entertaining - in fact, their ability to at least act out undoubtedly makes it more entertaining than if most of the contestants constantly only said "Uh..." and such. ;)

I just finished watching Episode 3.
When Stan Lee scolded the contestants that Superman and Spiderman would never reveal their true identities (or secret identities, as it were): Uh, Stan.... (http://www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/CivilWar/CivilWar2_End.html)
It was funny to see the rooftop lady in distress screaming for help, for someone to hurry up and help her - only for her to then tell the contestants to "Take it slow" when they started crossing the beam toward her. :D
It looks like Lumeria and Fat Momma are gonna square off at some point soon.
Next week: the contestants apparently meet real convicts.

I still enjoy this show although last night's episode was not as good as the previous one. "Superheroes, your mission today... is to go to the diner around the corner... and order lunch."
I have a new theory about the nature of this show. I don't think they're plants any more, not even Dark Enforcer. My new theory is that a lot of the scenes are re-enactments. I think the challenges (e.g. walking across the plank or going through the yard with the dogs) are shown as they happened, but any scene with Stan Lee was originally done with someone standing in for Stan Lee -- some other producer who made the decisions of who to eliminate -- and then re-done with Stan on the TV screen. For me, this explains why the reactions seem to be "off" sometimes.
Still, fun show.

Come on guys! Don't you think there are enough strange people in the USA to cast "Who Wants to be a Superhero?" Hell I was thinking it would be fun to audition. (I'd be Education Man! Able to correct nasty grammar with a single pen!)
And notice that "Monkey Woman" was an aspiring actress. My guess is that some of these folks either are actors, or want to become such. (Maybe they work in local theater groups.) And many of them may simply not have a real life. How many people do you know who spend way too much time watching TV, or um, on-line? :o
In any case, my wife and I are going to sit down and watch the episode in a few minutes! I'm rooting for Major Victory and maybe Lemuria. I like Feedback too, though I can't figure out what he's feeding back?!
QUAKES FOREVER!!

Well, that episode was weaker yet. I think they used up their good challenges early on.
The first elimination was really weak. Dark Enforcer pulls up some skeletons from their past, all they have to do is say, yeah, that was wrong but I've learned from that experience and I'm a better person now or some crap like that. It's not like Creature is still throwing stuff out of hotel windows.
The one with the inmates was better, although they were obviously actors. Question: was the first inmate, the one Lemuria attempted to sit upon the lap of, a guy or a girl? I thought it was an ugly guy but my wife said it was a chick. I told her that they don't have coed chain gangs, but I'm not sure that our rules of logic apply in whatever universe this show was made in. ;)
