Has Northwest England gotten any rain???

I have been watching the British Open from the Royal Liverpool club.
The grass looks so......Brown!
It looks like it's being played in Illinois or somewhere in the Midwestern US during last years drought.
I understand that links courses don't get the fussy maintainace that manicured US courses get. One let's the grass grow in the rough, etc.
Roylal Liverpool looks like it hasn't been watered in months.
I know the UK's had a heatwave, but whee's the rain?

They always look like that. It's also probably related to the fact that golfers have been walking over it all day for the past week.

Well, they're usually a bit brown, but it has to be said, we've had more or less no rain for about three weeks now so they are unusually brown. A load of my Father-in-Law's friends are members and they're very concerned the course won't be back to its normal state for ages.
