This is the longest courtship in history, it seems we've been after this guy for two years. That said, I'll be very glad to have him on board.

Hughesy has done so well with this Benni mcCarthy. He offered 4 million last summer and Porto wanted 6-8 million. Now Hughes will get him for around 2-2.5 million. Plus the guy we got for last season did pretty well for himself. Benni and Jason Roberts pairing will definitely be interesting to watch.
I just want to get this transfer done and dusted as quickly as possible seeing as pre-season games are already in full swing. Plus with Benni getting locked up Hughes and his staff can focus on the other problem areas of the team that need replacements/reinforcements.
Come on Benni! Sign the contract already!

Well, I thought I'd let you guys know that Benni has signed with Blackburn and one of his reasons for joining was because of the UEFA Cup qualification...and how do I know this...because his brother plays in my clubteam and told us.;)

Well, he hasn't cost much, but his return in Portugal last year was poor, and goals there are worth about 0.2 of a goal anywhere else (Mario Jardel anyone?) . At least we have a decent list of options in McCarthy, Roberts, Jeffers and Kuqi. If nothing else they seem like the type that will work hard and help their midfielders score goals, too.

How many goals do you think McCarthy is good for this season? 15?

If we can get that out of McCarthy and Roberts, we'll be in decent shape. I'm sure he can reach that total.
