In keeping with history, ESPN will not be showing the Arsenal game, rather, they will show the unimportant Juventas Vs basel.
From Uefa.com,
Juventus are in pole position to follow Man U. into the quarter-finals as they hold a three-point advantage over both FC Basel and eliminated Deportivo. Only a huge win for Basel against Juventus on Tuesday combined with a draw or defeat for Deportivo against United can deny the Italians a place in the last eight.
Basel have to win 4-0 or by five clear goals in the case of a Juventus away goal.
Can you see that happening?
wouldn't the Arsenal game be way better to show, I guess if you work at ESPN, NO!

did you ever really think ESPN was competent when it comes to soccer?

it is extremely confusing as to what the execs or PD's at ESPN are thinking... maybe they are tottenham fans... lol~

ESPN has already decided that they would only show games on Tuesdays. The Arsenal-Valencia match is on Wed. unfortunately. I would love to be able to watch this game as well but that's the way ESPN has decided to run things.

i hope everyone does what i did - hit them with an email IMPLYING how stupid it would be to show an utterly utterly meaningless match - i also HINTED that maybe a wednesday matchup would be wiser - as joaquin andujar always said, 'juneveknow'

But if you live in the US west coast or southwest and have access to a satellite that picks up ESPN International from Mexico you can see 6 games this Tuesday and Wednesday. Check your local soccer bar or Latin restaurant to see if they'll carry the games in those regions.

These are ESPN Internationals games next week:

3/18

9.30 am PST Lokomotiv Moscow vs Real Madrid
11.30 am Deportivo vs Manchester United
1.45 pm AC Milan vs Borussia Dortmund

3/19

11.30 am Valencia vs Arsenal
1.45 pm Bayer Leverkusen vs Inter Milan
5.00pm Newcastle vs Barcelona

Goldy, depending on where in Jersey you are, you may want to consider coming to the Dark Horse in Philly, the match is definitely being shown there.

ESPN's CL coverage has been very disappointing. You'd think somebody would get a clue.

Well, this is the last of it anyway. Come fall, ESPNDeportes is starting, and the Champions League coverage is moving there.

Now that I think of it, that might not be a bad thing, if they show more matches, I wouldn't care if they were in Spanish.

Seriously now, did any of you actually expect anything different. It seems that the mouse is actively trying to kill its football coverage. Champions league used to be on ESPN, now on ESPN2 and soon to be on ESPNDeportes. Now if you have a crap cable company(Cablevision, I'm looking in your direction), would you even have it next year? Doubt it. Of coarse, if you only care about watching Arsenal, you won't be missing much.

Gentlemen your missing the point. Whether or not ESPN is committed to providing Soccer coverage is irrelevant. Almost every Arsenal game at present is pay per view or Setanta. As long as there Gooners willing to put there hands in their pockets to follow the lads then games will not be available on regular cable channels. Supply and demand boys...Supply and demand!

My biggest problem is that, unless you live in a major metropolitan area and can go to a pub that gets Setanta, you're stuck with ESPN's coverage, which seems to only ever cover Spanish or Italian teams. I have a pub I go to regularly to watch matches and they don't get Setanta because the cost is too high and the owner doesn't think there's enough support for some of the clubs to cover the cost. The ideal thing would be for Fox Sports World to pick up coverage at some point, as ESPN seems to give it the short shrift. FSW at least does a good job with football coverage and could put the semis and finals on the regular Fox Sports Net stations.
