They're giving away 30 season tickets to fans to make noise at their games. They'll have tryouts on August 26th at the Toyota Center.

"My idea behind this is to attract the young, energetic fans that can provide the high energy level that our players can rally around," Van Gundy said. "By helping to provide a high-energy environment that our players can feed off of our fans can impact our play on the court.

"A loud, energetic crowd makes for a great home court advantage and that can be the difference in a close game," he added. "The only requirement for sitting in the new section is that you come ready to be loud and make Toyota Cent"

I'll pass. I went to a Rockets game once, never left my seat, and clapped a few times. Absolutely no excitement. No anticipation. We even won the game and all I did was clap mildy. I can't see how everyone goes nuts about a 360 somersault triple pump under the legs wrap around double windmill with a 1/2 twist tomahawk slam. (ok, I might cheer if that happened) I always have to remind everyone that it's still two points, like that last lay-up where no one clapped. :) Sorry, I just don't see what the fuss is about. LET'S GO DYNAMO!

Side note: I have seen exciting endings, but when it takes 30 minutes to play 30 seconds, and I watch 25 minutes of commercials in that time from all 24 time-outs, I quickly lose interest. LESS BASKETBALL! MORE HOCKEY! oh and soccer of course.

You guys are sticks n the mud!

Man, I freakin' grew up living and dying for the Rockets! 2ston Baby!!! Where I'm from Sharpstown/Alief you'd get killed for even having negative thoughts about our Rockets!

Didn't anyone else have the time of their Houston sports life down on Richmond those summers of '94 and '95???

The beer was being bought by everyone for everyone else, oriental dudes where high fiving black dudes, traffic was nuts, cars were full of Houston sports fans, I never saw one fight or accident and the strippers were in full force free of charge! C'mon son! If that memory needs to be given its proper place for Van Gundy than I will lead that Supporters Section as well!

Just thinkin' of the team...Rudy T, Hakeem with the ledgendayr "Dreamshake", Kenny, Little Alien Sam Cassel, Horry, Coke Head Mad Max, OT, Drex from Sterling H.S. The Mustand and Ketchup going 7 games against New York in '94 and getting back at Garry Carter and the New York Mets for the 'Stros in '86....freakin' sweeping Shaq, Penny, Grant, Nick Anderson and the 60-1 home winners Orlando Magic in '95!!! The only tiem Houston has won a domestic title....need I remind y'all of the importance the Rockets have in Houston sporting culture??? Sign me up Coach!

Hakeem with the ledgendayr "Dreamshake"....

I love Hakeem. Defintely does not get his due because he played at the same time as Michael Jordan.

I always argue with people that Hakeem was so good because of his football background. I believe he even played goalie on a Nigierian youth national team. The footwork , block shots and the angles that he defended at reminded me of a futbol goalie.

I was there for it all - honking horns on Richmond, having beers with Rudy T at The Ale House (he was a regular), "Taco Cabana" commericial, Griffs, Ketchup and Mustard uni's, the "Slow Speed Chase", Dream Shake, "Kiss of Death", The Birth of Horry....it was amazing and I was getting a lot of college tail too....it was great.

But in the past years they got rid of the classic unis (pajamas, then Chinese National Team), HIRED Van Gone-dy (??) and Patrick Ewing (???), sold the Summit to Jesus, no more Rudy T or any of the old Rockets in the organization in any capacity, then got McGrady to pass the ball (???) to Yao.....?
Come on, that's dumb!
That owner is the one who doesn't seem to know how to build a winner.

The Dream vs. David Robinson.....most unbelievable display of dismantling an opponent I've ever seen.
BTW, the Rockets were the only team with a winning record against the Bulls with Jordan in that era.
The Rockets would have beaten Jordan at least once in the Finals had he not gone minor league.

They do that in Dallas. They have a special section for people who show up like 2 hours before the game all painted up and rowdy and let them in free. It's been a pretty successful promotion.

Damn it all if Mark Cuban doesn't catch on to footie!

What a basketball fan enjoys out of the game is there in basketball with your heads, chest and legs on a 100 yard gridiron field.

Just goaltending is legal.

Don't double post but I had to remind everyone that Vernon Maxwell was the ONLY human to have ever been able to shut down MJ.

If you took the time to read MJ's books like "The Jordan Rules" and the others, he just touches on this sesitive topic for him. He states that he hated to play the Rockets and does admit that the night Mad Max held Mike to 5 points...that's correct sports fans 5 points...in a game at the Summit was the lowest he ever had...ever!

Horry was all over Pippen, Vern had MJ on lock, Hakeem was no match for Cartwright or Will Purdue. Otis and Horace Grant were twins seperated at birth and Paxon and Kenny/Cassel would go to us more often than not. People talk shit like Jordan was out playing stick in 1994 and 1995 when in reality it was just '94. Jordan dropped 55 on the Knicks in March of '95 and was freash for the playoffs. Yet Penny and Shaq were too much for them and as history states too little for us as our Rockets swept them out of the Finals in 4. They were 60-1 that season at home also....that's how massive it was that we took those first two from them. "I'd rather have a Dream house than a Shaq any day"

So no doubt yes! Houston would have beaten Chicago in 1995. We did our part to get back to the Finals as defending Champions but Jordan and the Bulls didn't show up. It was the middle of the decade and that was to be the deciding series of the 90's. Too bad we will never know.
