Well, I didn't see a thread for this game so I thought I should start one and I also wanted to share my experience with you americanistas.

Club America plays against San Luis at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado on July 20. They had a training session today so I went with my dad to go watch America practice. We got there late and we only catched the last 20 minutes of their practice but it was still pretty cool to watch. Anyways, the first person that I see is Lapuente sitting on a hill behind one of the goals. MY dad and I walked by Lapuente because we got to the field through the back way and not from where anyone else came from so the security gaurds from America didn't think that we were there to watch America train. My dad talked a little bit with Lapuente before the security gaurd told us not to bother Manolo.

So the players finished their training and most of them went straight to their bus and only a few players stayed to sign autographs. I went to America's training session straight from where I work so I didn't have anything that they could sign but my dad still took a picture of me with Memo Ochoa on his camera phone. An America fan there thought that my dad was Luis Fernando Tena and asked for his autograph which I thought was hilarious.

As I'm going home my dad calls one of his friends and we find out at what hotel America is staying at. But before I go to the hotel I go to get my old keeper gloves so that Ochoa can sign them. We arrive at the hotel where America is staying and we try to keep a low profile by going through one the side doors and not looking too obvious because security were a$$ho!es. My dad and I look around the hotel to see where the players are at and we spot Lapuente going up to his room. We walk past the bar and spot some of America's staff (people who help the team probably towel boys and such) sitting at a table in the restaurant inside of the hotel. In one of the back rooms of the restaurant is where the players where dining. SO my dad and I ask for a table and they give us a table in a corner which had a great view to the room where the players where eating. We eat our diner.

After we are finished eating, we see that America's staff gets up and leaves. With no waiters or waitresses around and with the saff and helpers gone there is nothing to keep me from getting to where the America players are at. I get my old gloves and my sharpie out and walk right into the room where the players are sitting. I walk into the room, all the talking stops, everyone looks at me like WTF is this kid doing here? and I look to my left and I see the coaching staff. Then I look to my right and I see the second table which seats such players as El gringo Castro and Memo Ochoa. I stopped for about a second then went to over and asked Ochoa to sign my gloves. As he is doing that Gringo Castro starts cracking up and so do all the other players because of the look on my face. I was just shocked to see all the coaches there and players like Vuoso, El Piojo, Villa, El Gringo, Ochoa, and Cabanas. I may not be an Americanista but I still have a lot of respect for those players and I admire them a lot. So I wish them all luck for tomorrow's game and for the upcoming season ans I leave the room and go back to the table where my dad was sitting.

I will post tomorrow after the game with the result and I will also try to post up pics of the gloves the Ochoa signed.

One last thing, sorry for my post being so long and for sounding like a 13 year old girl who just found Justin Timberlake's already-been-chewed gum but I have never really had a chance to see such great football players in person so I was really excited and Memo Ochoa is one of my favorite players and I really look up to him as a keeper.

I just got back from the game. A 3-0 win for America with goals coming from El Piojo, Duilio, and Cabanas. Both teams played with about half to 3/4 of their starters in the first half then made several changes at half-time.

Overall, very entertaining football on the field with a great atmosphere. There was about 30,000 total fans there with the majority being Americanistas. Damn, I didn't know there were so many America fans in Denver!

I got to go to this game last night in Denver as well - as a Rapids season ticket holder I was excited to get to see another match - and for it to be Club America ruled. I dont know a lot about Mexican soccer (though I hope to see some mroe next month when I am down in Mexico) - but out of the teams I ahve seen before on TV - America is my favorite.

The atmosphere was great, the America fans friendly - my only disappointment was thta I had planned on pickingup some America gear (jersey etc) either beefore or during the game - but I saw none for sale inside. I talked to one guy who said there was some for sale in the parking lot - i left a little early (have to drive back to Coroado SPrings anyway) to see if I could find him. No luck :( Oh well, I'm sure I can find some in Cancun or Playa - I remember seeing some last time down there but I ended up getting some more EPL/Spansih shirts at the time.

All in all it was great to see America play - now can we have #3 for our right back here in Colorado? He wasn't big, but nobody was getting past him, with or without the ball.

Cheers,
Jeff

Alright, below are some pictures of the gloves that Memo Ochoa signed. Sorry for taking so long to put them up but I have been very busy.

Thanks, it's not luck, I'm just good! Seriously, I was very lucky to have been able to get in the hotel where they were staying at because they wouldn't let anyone in or talk to the players.

It's awesome to have been able to meet my favorite keeper and to have him sign my gloves. Also, Ochoa seems a lot taller in person than on the tv.
