BERLIN: Football legend Diego Maradona felt humiliated when a German hotel piano player treated him to a rendition of "Don't cry for me Argentina" after the South Americans lost to the hosts at the World Cup. The musician in the bar at the luxury hotel where the 1986 World Cup winner was staying played the song as Maradona mourned Argentina's penalty shoot-out loss to Germany in the quarter-finals, the Berliner Kurier newspaper reported. Maradona didn't attend the match at Berlin's Olympic Stadium on June 30 because of an argument over ticket allocation.

The rest is translated from a German newspaper:

Furthermore, Maradona complained about the hotels' room service, which "joked around". "Breakfast was always served by a nigerian - apart from the day after Germany. Then it was served by a German. And he laughed"

I stayed at the hotel (Westin Grand Berlin) the night before the game, the piano player played "Don't cry for me Argentina" about once an hour.

I was hoping to meet Maradona, but he stayed in room all the time (I guess I should have stayed one more night).

As a side note, the security man at the hotel told me that Ecuador, Paraguay, Croatia and Tunisia also stayed at the same hotel. What else do these team have in common with Argentina?
