We've been thinking of a "Mediterranean Island" vacation, going to Corsica, Sardinia, and Sicily for one week each. The problem is getting three weeks away from work.

A very good choice.

3 different mediterranean cultures.
Sicily has more history and culture than nature (relatively speaking of course, I mean, Mt. Etna and so on...) while Corsica and Sardinia more wild nature.

You could try convincing people down there that unions are not so bad... it will take time. ;)

My place in Sardinia is next to a nuraghus - a Sardinian watchtower. We keep unearthing Roman remains and bronze artifacts - pretty awe-inspring.

Sardinia also has some of the most incredible secluded beaches I have ever seen - and this in the less popular south east of the island - but you have to have a local's knowledge to find them.

In bocca lupo !

Heh, heh.

Make me an offer. In the "most obscure redemption possible" league.

Mike,

The Greek Island Crete is very nice. So is the Spanish Island Majorica (sp).

Well, I was only talking about a couple of weeks. Greece would be a different trip.

I'm not a big fan of 17 cities in 12 days kind of vacations.

When we visited Sardinia we stayed at the Hotel Corallo in the small fishing village, Isola Rossa. We had a top floor room with a balcony and a lovely view of the marina and bay. The hotel was run very efficiently and the food was very good. The Sardinian BBQ evening is quite an experience. There is very little to do in Isola Rossa but there are some good places to eat and Michele's Pizza Restaurant is worth a visit. The nearby beaches are beautiful.

Isola Rossa and Hotel Corvallo is the perfect place for a quiet leisurely holiday. We really enjoyed our stay!
