Bad news for the Glubb fans: Peer Kluge and Angelos Charisteas won't be able to play. Especially Kluge is a huge loss...
Agree. Kluge would be a huge loss. I see Charisteas' not being able to play as a blessing in disguise.
But, today's 'kicker' lists Kluge in their projected starting lineup. ;)
The duel "Galasek vs Pienaar" should be very interesting, as both know each other very well from former times at Ajax. I think much will depend on how the hosts manage to cope with Arteta; it's no secret that the LB position is the weak point since Pinola's injury...
Pienaar probably won't see the pitch.
Everton is the fav team, but 1. FCN isn't as bad as many may think due to their current BL ranking. They have a good midfield and their alleged poor attack with Kennedy & Saenko will go beyond itself tonight. You'll see:-)
The great thing about this sport is that anything can happen. Saenko, I can see doing something. Kennedy? Hell no. Hopefully, he can prove me wrong.
Kicker thinks Nicky Adler will get a shot tonight. That's the kid I think Meyer needs to be playing.
PS: There's a public viewing in the Old Town for all those Toffees who make the trip without tickets. Unfortunately, we have the worst weather you can imagine here in Nürnberg at the moment (it's cold, rainy and windy)...
Cold, rainy and windy? Why should that bother Everton fans? It f#cking sounds like England! :D

I really wonder about Peer Kluge, since my brother told me that he wouldn't be available tonight. We'll see...
Don't know how serious the "Kicker" starting line-up can be taken, because I simply can't imagine that Adler will replace Misimovic!
Should Kluge really be able to play, I see 2 possible line-ups:
.............................Blazek
Reinhardt.......Wolf........Glauber........Mnari
....................Kluge..........Galasek
Misimovic...............Mintal...............Saenko
...........................Kennedy
or:
.............................Blazek
Reinhardt........Wolf........Glauber.......Mnari
.................Kluge............Galasek
.................Misimovic........Mintal
.................Kennedy.........Saenko

Btw: On the way home I've just taken a look into the Old City. Lots of Toffies around every corner, especially at Finnegan's. ;)

even more Blues came over on the NSNO and BlueKipper planes this morning. Every Everton fan is excited about this game.
As for Pienaar, he has been boss for us so far. If we can get him for 2 mio euros, then come on Moyes!!! Sign him up

Well, so needless to say I am heartbroken.
Damn it Glauber, I love you, but wtf were you thinking??
Clearly that ref was pro-Everton, so to pull a move like that,
of course you were to get booked.
I was really hoping my boys would do better, there were moments when they were really playing well off of each other, and had some beautiful passing, and really were putting up a fight, but after that damn penalty kick, the confidence just got lost it seems.
Crap. :( And I've nearly lost my voice screaming at the TV.
I am just sick of there being so much negativity towards my FCN,
and I was hoping to shut some of that up. Oh well...maybe next game?
I still adore my FCN no matter what though. Wins or losses.

Yea, I thought so too, but after some of the shit we've gotten through with refs this year (Metalist, Liverpool), I think we deserved this bit of luck. Unluckily for you guys... :-/
On the balance of play though, I thought we edged it. Anichebe was immense

BVB management are just stupid enough to do that. Isn't that the price in the buyout clause??
I didn't see the match (was returning from the Allianz Arena), but I heard Pienaar played well.

For Everton, yes, it is. For BVB, getting that much for Pienaar would be considered a coup of sorts for management.

Absolutely no problems. Neither in the city nor in the "Gärtla" or at stadium. Hundreds (or thousands?) of cops around the Old Town and stadium, but thankfully they had nothing to do (I expected this, though).
Heard a lot of stories of fan article trading and such.
I saw so many Toffees with red and FCN fans with blue scarves that I really got irritated some times (especially at stadium)! I heard that lots of Evertonians visited the FCN fanshop in the Ludwigstraße yesterday morning, where they were supplied with tickets for the main stand and FCN stuff (in order to get better access to the stadium:-). When Everton scored the 1:0, I simply was shocked by the number of Blues on the main stand (I bet they made up at least 30 % of it)! It seems that all Evertonians got a ticket for the game, I'd estimate about 6,000-7,000 at stadium! Where the hell did they get all those tix from (I didn't see any empty seats, although the UEFA had allegedly cancelled lots of tickets for Everton supporters)? Somehow I have the feeling that the black market was flourishing...
I heard that 10 charterplanes arrived directly from Liverpool on Thursday morning, whereas the other fans must have arrived the day before. I was told that lots of Toffees came by train from Prague ... and I also met members of the British Army in Germany (had a small talk with 4 guys from Hanover).
The Everton fans were great in the Old Town and after the 1:0 lead ... however, I didn't hear much of them during the game when it was 0:0. Regarding to the huge amount, they were pretty disappointing in my opinion! Maybe they expected an easier game for their team...
Btw: Can you tell me where you got those stories from? I took a look at "Toffeetalk.com", but didn't see any reports there (seems to have not much traffic).

And to "JensLehmannsGirl", my friends here here in Erlangen (FCN Fans) who were at the match or watched on TV had no complaints about the referee.
He did ok, although there was a period within the 2nd half when he took a few "smaller" decisions against Nürnberg. Then it seems he was "impressed" by the booings and whistles from the crowd ... so he suddenly made a few "good calls" for the hosts as well. The penalty kick was justified in my eyes. Maybe he could have decided on foul in the scene before the 0:2. Can't judge it seriously though, since I didn't see any tv reports until now...
From what they said, FCN were foiled by their own inability to finish......
To be honest, their inability to finish wasn't decisive this time ... as they didn't have many scoring opportunities (neither Everton). 2-3 dangerous shots, that was all! However, I don't wonder that you don't get chances against such a strong defence when you play with a midfielder as only striker upfront...
About the game: I think its quality wasn't the best, especially after the interval. Both teams didn't risk too much ... and it seemed to me that they were contented with a 0:0 draw in the end. The only difference was that young guy who came in late (the FCN defence simply didn't cope with him)!
I saw a decent Nürnberg squad in the first 35 minutes which controlled most of the first half and was the better team (Misimovic & Kluge were great), although Everton had the better chances in the opening minutes. Unfortunately they couldn't create many scoring opportunities, 2 good shots from Kluge & Reinhardt were the only output of their pressure. After the interval, the guests got stronger ... whereas FCN totally lost control over the game. Saenko was awful once again, Kluge's performance got worse since he wasn't fit for 90 minutes after his injury. Misimovic was marked a lot closer & couldn't keep the 1st half level ... and Mintal was totally invisible upfront (I noticed only 1 shot on target short time after the interval)! It was more than obvious that it wasn't his position, so I couldn't understand why Hans Meyer didn't bring in Kennedy for Saenko and Pagenburg for Kluge in order to remove Mintal back to the midfield much earlier...
I think that despite this bad 2nd half, a draw would have been deserved for Nürnberg ... as Everton wasn't the better team over the whole 90 minutes (I bet they would have beaten the Toffees with the shape of last season). Unfortunately their defence wasn't clever enough, producing 2 late "blackouts" once again. To Glauber's rehabilitation, I have to admit that the main reason for the 0:1 was Saenko's terrible mistake! Simply don't know that happened with this Russian guy after his great last season...
Here's 2 match reports (in German) and Hans Meyer's post-game statement:

Everton fans are quite like that to be honest, even in Goodison, they're not really the singing type. Before and after the game is usually when Everton fans are signing or slagging. So yesterday was not an anomaly.
