Nyon - Das ist ein heißer Kracher: Der Club startet am 8. November gegen Everton in die UEFA-Cup-Gruppenphase. Außerdem in der Gruppe A dabei: Zenit St. Petersburg, AE Larisa und AZ Alkmaar.

I can't wait for next Saturday. I am going to my first game in Germany. Happened to pick this game as I will be in the area that day. Came to this thread hoping to get some tips on where to go pre-game, and got that in an earlier reponse, but always open to more suggestions. I've posted in a few other threads looking for tips and have hotten some good responses. To those that have responded, many thanks!

Thats a tough draw. Traveling to St Peterburg in Winter seriously sucks... The homegame against Everton should be pretty sweet tough, and so is the trip to Larissa :)

What an embarassing performance in the "benefit-derby" against Greuther Fürth at Playmobil stadium! Instead of 1:3, it could easily have been a 1:8 or 2:8! And this, although they started with a pretty decent team (almost all players had first league experience)...

The FCN fans (inclusive my brother:-) were not amused ... at least they know very well how it is to lose a derby against Fürth! :p


Important is that € 100,000 will be donated to children with cancer:

Fürth - Das Erfreuliche vorneweg: Im Benefizspiel zwischen der SpVgg Greuther Fürth und dem 1. FC Nürnberg zu Gunsten der Madeleine Schickedanz KinderKrebs-Stiftung freuten sich die Verantwortlichen über einen 100.000 Euro-Scheck, der in der Halbzeitpause übergeben wurde. Dagegen gab es sportlich aus Sicht des Clubs an diesem Mittwochabend (10.10.07) im Fürther Playmobilstadion nichts zu bejubeln. Mit 1:3 (0:3) verlor das Team von Trainer Hans Meyer gegen die Hausherren. Der einzige Nürnberger Treffer ging auf das Konto des eingewechselten Chhunly Pagenburg.

I'm so sorry that I didn't manage to take close pics of Alexander Stephan! :( I was hoping that the players would make the usual "Auslaufen" after the game and enter the pitch again ... but the Nürnberg players apparently were so frustrated that they entered the team bus very soon. When I noticed they wouldn't come out again, I went straight to the bus ... however, it seems that Alexander Stephan was among the first guys who entered it, so I didn't see him. What a pity!

As a "compensation", I'm posting a few impressions of the game (5,200 attendance only, 1500 FCN fans among the crowd) for you. Enjoy them!

Btw: Alex Stephan played solidly, but I doubt he's good enough to replace Blazek or Klewer at the moment. He's pretty young, so his time will surely come in a few years.

I am of course sad that we didn't do better, but, we gave it our best from what I heard.
And poor Alexander, I am sure the reason he was among the first on the bus is because he was frustrated and probably feeling quite defeated - this was a big opportunity for him, and even though he gave it his best, he still conceded some goals. I can understand his frustation though. And I know that the keepers always take losses the hardest, because the pressure is felt alot mostly by them. I wish I had been there among the other Clubberers to cheer him and the boys on. But I shall be there in May for that. :)
But Alexander's time will come to shine in the goal. He is still very young, and he can use this time to practice, and watch the others and learn from their technique. I still have a feeling that he is going to be one hell of a keeper though.

But thank you again for those pictures. Definitely brightened my day and annoyance and not having been there. :)

Und mit die FCN Spiel (ja, am Mittwoch), ich meinte nur, das obwohl Alexander hat drei Tor zugestandet, er hat versuchte. Vielleicht war er aber ja nervös im Tor bei die erste FCN Mannschaft zu spielen? Aber meine Kusine hat das Spiel für mich von DSF aufgenommen, also bald ich werde die DVD haben. Aber, sie meinte nur, das es könnte ja schlechter sein. Aber, mit Alexander, seine Zeit kommt bestimmt noch. :)

Und, hoffentlich haben wir bei FCN eine bessere Saison. :)

Du kannst auch HIER (http://forum.fcn.de/viewforum.php?f=24&sid=b1a7214cc255017df9d71c7a75803638) 'rein posten. Denke aber nicht, dass jemand ein Problem mit deinem Deutsch hat, wenn du in deinem Profil deine Herkunft (Arizona/USA) angibst.

Und wie gesagt, soooo schlecht bist du nun wirklich nicht ... zumal viele Deutsche keinen Deut besser Englisch sprechen und die deutsche Sprache (vor allem die Grammatik) nicht gerade einfach zu lernen ist!

And I have not yet gotten my DVD of the Benefiz-Derby from my cousin, but I did see the Nachrichten clip from FrankenTV, and they showed the goals conceded. Kind of difficult ones, and it almost seems like he froze or something? I know he's better than that though, I've seen him make some really tough saves before. Perhaps he was just nervous about playing for the first team and making a good impression? It could happen to anyone. But from the interview with Hans, he seemed pretty disgusted at the team's performance as a whole. I know the team's not quite got their chemistry together yet, but I hope they can soon. Although I am not sure what it will take to get that chemistry together??

Somehow, the FCN fans have to suffer a lot in derbies against Fürth during the last 10 years (I've won so many bets against my brother and a few friends:-)...:p



I know the team's not quite got their chemistry together yet, but I hope they can soon. Although I am not sure what it will take to get that chemistry together??

There are many reasons for your recent problems. The main reason are the high expectations from a part of the FCN fanship in my eyes. It was quite to be expected that there would also come a low after 2 fantastic years with my former beloved Borussia manager Hans Meyer...

Well in regards to my German, practice makes perfect. I understand everything, it's just my conjugation and small grammar errors I make when speaking/writing. But I speak with a proper accent (kein kaugummi deutsch hier!), so that at least is working for me! ;)

Well I do know FCN has a lot of reasons for our lacklustre performances recently. It is a shame, because when we really have eveything lined up right and the team chemistry is there, we can really kick some ass. So I hope Hans and the rest can do whatever it takes to get this back. But, I'll settle also just as easily for any team that will take a nice swipe at FCB! :D
