Well said. You do have a point in the fact that FCB spent so much money on some class players, and even though their starting lineup yesterday was missing some other those players, such as Miro...and then Poldi came on finally at the very end, they still managed to play at that level.

And your point about team chemistry is also true. That combined with the injury list and that they may not yet have formed another team chemistry yet says a lot. I know that FCN doesn't have the money that FCB does to spend on transfer and players, which is a shame.

As for Alexander Stephan..."devoted fan", I wouldn't go that far. I've been watching his performances for a couple of years, and what I have been seeing, especially this season, is very impressive. He has really grown as a player, and I am looking forward to what he can do for and bring to the first team.

And you are definitely right with how you say that Bader should have had a stronger replacement for Schroth before letting him go. I can't say I have any idea what the thinking was behind that decision.

And yes, FCB and FCN are totally different teams, especally in attitude. FCN has always been more humble and, shall I say "reserved", whereas, FCB is more, especially in the last few years, "egocentric", for lack of a better word. That, and they seem to have a lot of media power behind them with the press and media.

Well let's see what happens with the rest of the season, maybe us Clubberers are in for some surprises? Would certainly be nice. :)

UEFA Group A...which means you get to face us :D (Everton us, not Hertha us :( )

AZ Alkmaar
Zenit Petersburg
Everton
Nurnberg
Larissa

Hopefully you can upset AZ and Zenit and get 2nd or 3rd....
I know many Blues have already booked their ticket to Nurnberg to see the match, I've recommended that they take AirBerlin to Nurnbeg.

FCN fans can't get their Everton tickets yet. They haven't started selling them! LOL!! :D

I just checked FCN's website for a friend of mine. I would go to this match, but I've already got tickets coming for Bayern v. Bolton at the Allianz Arena on the same night.

To be honest, I think the 1. FCN vs. Everton will be a better match than that one. I think Bayern will tear Bolton a new ass.

Well, when I live one hour from the Allianz Arena, two and a half hours from the Frankenstadion and the matches are on a work night, logistics determines what match I will see live.

Besides, Bayern v. Bolton starts at 7PM, which tells me that FCN v. Everton will probably start at 8:45 PM.

If I drive, I can get home in time for the end of FCN v. Everton match or I will simply record it and enjoy it when I get home.

Besides, on Bayern v. Bolton, there is a such thing as the upset. Thinking like you are is why the Blackburn fans are sitting at home watching it all on TV now......

Yes, that is a good point.

But Bolton beating Bayern?????? :D Still sounds funny to me *prepares for footyfan1 rebuttal*

While I was checking the FCN website for Everton tickets, I decided to check the Bayern website too.

And they were already selling tickets for both their matches. I guess the lazy people at FCN will start their services sometime tomorrow. ;)

No big "rebuttal" from me. One, this is the wrong thread for it. Two, I know it's unlikely to happen.

I just don't think it is such a forgone conclusion as you seem to think it is........

I think Everton are going to tear FCN a new one, but I know FCN has a chance.

I saw FCN v. Bayer Leverkusen a couple of weeks ago. I loved the atmosphere, but the quality in that particular match was almost non-existent. On the plus side, beer prices at Franken Stadion are very, very affordable.

Thats what we thought when we drawn with Metalist Kharkiv

Nothing is ever easy when it comes to everton....man they're so like Hertha, incompetent board, horrible in Europe, long, but not so glorious history....

You just nearly described FCN for so many years too. Just replace the "horrible in Europe" with "almost never in Europe" and "long, but not so glorious history" with "long history, with glory days so long ago almost no one remembers......."

I was at that match too.

And that beer should be very affordable.

It isn't any good...... ;)

Eh, Olympiastadion's beer sucks and is expensive.

Hey, it was a decent enough pils and very affordable. Have I had better? Oh my god yes. Did I have better while I was there? Absofreakinglutely (I freaking love the helles from Altstadthof). But you know what? I was at a Bundesliga match and I had beer. Both things were a plus in my mind. (Quite frankly, I don't recall which brewery it was. I only know it wasn't Warsteiner, which pleased me.

If I'm not mistaken, you had Tucher. Local Nuernberg beer.

Dude, I lived in that area for almost 15 years of my life.

At that game, I had a beer and it reminded me of how bad some of the beer in that area is.

There are good beers there too as you said. Just not at the stadium! :)

Dude, if you didn't go there, the next time you get to a FCN match, get there in time to go to the party area across from the stadium called the Gaertla. It's almost like a mini-fest. Beer, brats, steak, music. It rocks!!

Actually, it wasn't Tucher. I guarantee it. Now, if you don't like Tucher, I can't help you. I happen to think their dunkles and their weizen are both very good. They're big, and buying everyone out, but that clearly isn't preventing them from making good beer. My brother's been stationed in the Nurnberg area for probably 9 of his 13+ years in Germany. Don't mistake this as a love song to Tucher, as it's not. I could go on and on about the beers I prefer over them. But I still like them just fine.

Unfortunately, we got to the game about five minutes after kickoff. We spent too much time at Barfusser drinking beer and eating duck, and got to the hbf too late to catch the train. So we had to go fight for a cab. However, next time I'll know better. We walked through the Gaertia after the match (is that right next to the Zepplin Field?). Things were still going on, but not nearly as strong as I'm sure they were beforehand. We then went back to the Andechs bar where I drank way too much dopplebock.

OK. Dude, I don't check to see what they serve there now. Traditionally, it's always been Tucher.

And you don't need to "help" me when it comes to Tucher. If we don't agree about Tucher, that's fine. I'm not going to argue about it, nor am I trying to pick a fight with you.

I know as many people who like Tucher as who don't like it. I just happen to be one who doesn't like it.

And like I said, I lived in that area for about 15 years of my life. I was in the Army for much of my time there. What I didn't say is that I still get there quite often.

The Gaertla is actually closer to the train than the Zeppelinfeld, but yes, you could say it is right next to it.

Andechs. That's a beer I do LOVE! :D

The whole "I can't help you" thing was just an offhand comment, I wasn't taking anything personally. Sorry, didn't translate well over the internets. Quite frankly, I was surprised that it wasn't Tucher, as that was what I expected. I suppose it could also just have been the stand I was at, but maybe that's the Seattleite in me where many stands have different beers. We were on the east side of Franken Stadion. What embarasses me the most is that I don't remember the name. Beer is what I do.

My geography of that night after the game probably isn't the best, as I was many beers into the evening, AND I basically went there straight off the plane from Seattle. It had been a long, long day.
