Charisteas is horrendous IMO. The fact that most people didn't want him to come to Hertha even when we still only had Luizao, Fredi Bobic and Artur Wichniarek shows you something.

Well, he scored 18 goals in 66 Bundesliga games and while that's not great he at least knows where the goal is. He's experienced and with Misimovic and Saenko he'll have two very good players who can give him the ball.

Having said that, with Micoud and Borowski he had two even better players who could give him the ball. I don't think he's a terrible striker, but i think Nuernberg could do better than him. If Mintal makes a full recovery this time, and with Nuernberg's other attackers available, i'd expect Charisteas to be a prominent bench warmer in the next season.

I'm sure you'll be totally wrong, since Charisteas is the replacement for Schroth and will be playing the "Stoßstürmer" role in a 4:3:3 system with Saenko & Vittek as "Außenstürmer"!

No good start into the new season for Nürnberg. Due to serious problems in the defence (Pinola & Beauchamp not available, Glauber still not fit), the hosts from FCN lost their Ligapokal semi final 2:4 to Schalke 04.
