I want your honest opinion about this guy. I now he's been looking for jobs around South American lately, but why hasnt he been stable at one team? Just because of that, it could tell us a lot of about him. Reason I ask is because my team, Universitario, has just signed him.. and news out of Peru suggest that he's been doing really good at practice. But I dont know much about him, if you guys could fill me in a little about him. Thanks.

good player, but his indiscipline keeps him from being better.

good player, but his indiscipline keeps him from being better. repitamos

I saw that penalty.
It looks like they went to penalty in the final of the Chilean tournament and he kicked the penalty like if he was playing a game with his friends in the hood and wanted to show off.
Well, he missed and I think that's why his team lost the final.
I've seen him play some games and he has a lot of skills.

I think he is the classic underachiever who for some reason or another has never been able to perform at a high level consistently. I believe he came out of the Boca Juniors de Cali system which produces a lot of Colombia's top players and he had a tremendous reputation as a youngster, particularly after he joined Deportivo Cali and was able to have a big impact (at the time Dep Cali played a double playmaker system with Candelo and the Little Prince Hernandez guiding the attack).
Candelo's vision was fantastic, he could play remarkably well with a defender on his back considering his size, and he had reasonable pace. He was tipped, ahead of Hernandez as Colombia's next '10' and even got a few CAPs under el Chiqui Garcia. I watched him play his first CAP, a friendly against Jamaica at Giants Stadium.
To give you an idea of Candelo's reputation circa 2000, his rights were purchased by Parma at the same time that they signed Alex (of Palmeiras who was the hot stuff coming out of Brasil at the time). Parma immediately loaned him to Velez in Argentina for seasoning...but Candelo's development as a player seemed to just stop there. He isn't the type of player that runs so much, and he struggled to get in the Velez starting XI and adapt to the local playing culture despite the fact that a Colombian, Jairo Castillo, was the top player on the team at the time and the two were great friends. Eventually, Velez decided against renewing the loan and Candelo has been a nomad ever since, failing to find a permanent role on a team.
He can be a lot of fun to watch, but also break your heart when he is half assing it.
