his "sit down" with Woerns.
Doesn't look like he's too pleased w/ the results.
Well, if Woerns repeated his insinuation that Metzelder knew Klinsmann had no intention of including Woerns in the World Cup squad, I wouldn't blame Metzelder for being pissed off.
I don't like how Klinsmann treated Woerns in this whole thing.
But I also know Woerns should have shut up before giving Klinsi the perfect excuse to exclude him.
And I think to bring this stuff to our team is just f#cking childish of Woerns.
Any of you on our list know I absolutely LOVE Christian Woerns. I understand why Woerns went off when he did. It's completely understandable if you look at it from his point of view.
I thought Woerns should have been selected ahead of Metzelder too. But I also understand that Klinsmann had a plan and he stuck to it. I just think Klinsmann should have told Woerns face-to-face what he was planning before Woerns blew it all up. I think if Woerns had kept his mouth shut, he would have gone to the World Cup instead of Nowotny.
I also feel Woerns is acting like a child here. I think Woerns needs to get over it and concentrate on getting BVB back to the top.
I think the guy he should be mad at is Klinsmann, not Metzelder.
If this in any way affects whether Metzelder wants to extend with us or not, I'll be upset.
Like I said, I absolutely LOVE Christian Woerns, but if Woerns' childish atttiude is what will decide whether Christoph Metzelder stays or goes, I say BvM needs to call Woerns in and tell him swallow his pride and fix the thing with Metzelder or find a new club.
I'm sure Skibbe would love to bring Woerns back to Leverkusen........ ;)

but dont be surprised to see valdez on the bench by september.....he hasn't impressed me that much and i watched a decent amount of bremen games...
btw...Klansnic was not playing for Klose....it was Micoud and Borowski that provided majority of the service to Klose.....leaving Klasnic to more or less fend for himself..
i still stand by my statement that valdez was playing second fiddle to Klasnic
does anyone know how Pienaar's form has been lately - it seems that he is our x-factor...

Honestly anyone who sees something in Klasnic should ask his doctor for help ... the WC surely showed the true Treff-Nix (Hit-Nothing) he literally sux without the werder midflied

I actually thought Klasnic didn't too bad, but yea when it comes to goal-scoring, he really needs service. Prso was lacking service too. But if you put Klose/Podolski on that team, they wouldn't be that effective either.

He rates Valdez as failure just because Werder preferes the KuK-Striker sollution .. what a .... Nelson Valdez never got a fair chance ... even when Klasnic was injured it was clear that when he is back he will play again, no matter how good Valdez playes ...
Gunning should watch the BL more closely

Didn't Valdez score a hat trick in the Champions League last year??
I know this 'coz I picked him in my pool on the UEFA web site, but 'coz he wasn't scoring, I dropped him for a game.
Guess what game that was??

He scored two or three goals in the last group match in Valencia (an awesome match btw). That was the key to promotion to the Juve-clash.

You must have something against Valdez. Maybe that he's putting Smolarek's ass on the bench?
BVB didn't buy Valdez to "bench him by September." As long as he gives half the effort he gave for Paraguay in the World Cup, he'll be starting.
On his worst days, he's a better finisher than Smolarek.
Are you that much of a Smolarek fan that you have root against Valdez or something? I'm not trying to attack you here, but you really seem to be a bitter Ebi Smolarek fan.
BTW, Bert van Marwijk is pretty much in love with Valdez right now, so he must be doing something right.......
btw...Klansnic was not playing for Klose....it was Micoud and Borowski that provided majority of the service to Klose.....leaving Klasnic to more or less fend for himself..
You are right on with Micoud, but Klasnic is more willing to play second fiddle to Klose (no shame in that) and feed off Klose's scraps than Valdez is. Valdez wants to be "The Man." I always want a guy who wants to be "The Man."
Frei has already said he'll have no problem feeding Valdez.
We'll see. We can talk all we want, but none of us knows what will happen. We'll see when they get on the pitch.
i still stand by my statement that valdez was playing second fiddle to Klasnic
And we still stand by our opinion that you're dead wrong. He didn't get Klasnic's spot, but as "HeyaBVB" said, and he'll tell you that he and I rarely agree so much, Klasnic plays better with Klose, therefore he got the nod.
does anyone know how Pienaar's form has been lately - it seems that he is our x-factor...
Same thing I said about Valdez. BvM seems to be in love with him. I help do the translations for the official BVB site and I believe there were two or three matches where he was clearly our best player.
Of course, I think they were before Frei and Valdez reported. Since then, I think "Man of the Match" for the other matches have either been Frei or Kringe.
Others having outstanding run-ups to the season are Dede, Kruska, and the guy you seem to love to hate, Valdez........ ;)

I don't think Klasnic is bad at all with or without the Werder midfield. Actually, I wouldn't have minded at all if we'd gotten Klasnic instead of Valdez.
I think you had it right before. Klasnic played over Valdez because Klasnic works better with Klose.
I think Klasnic didn't do well in the World Cup because:
#1 - The whole Croatian team sucked.
#2 - Everyone was looking for Prso on offense.
#3 - Please refer back to #1. :)

Still Klasnix (*G*) is not the great Striker Gunning makes him.
Valdez Bremen 30 21 9 3,29
Klasnic Bremen 30 24 15 3,25
Smolarek Dortmund 34 34 13 3,99
Here are some kicker stats ... Klasnix is only 0.04 points better than Valdez but he has 24 games he got grades in , Valdez only 21 (you get grades if you play more then 20 Minutes iirc) .. Ebi e.g. had 34 noted games of his 34 played and only 3.99 in Kicker ratings.
Valdez only has 21 of his 30 games were he got a kicker grade

Now how come the last time I used kicker ratings to back up my point in an argument we had, you blew them off like they were nothing, yet, here you are using them to prove a point of your own???
Not good man. LOL!! :)
Still, I don't think Klasnic is as good as "Gunning" is making him out to be, but I don't think Klasnic deserves the putting down you're giving him either.
I think "Gunning" is overrating Klasnic simply to put down Valdez.
Like I said in a response to "Gunning", he or she seems to be a bitter Ebi Smolarek fan because Valdez is putting Smolarek's ass on the bench.
Either that or just a straight hater of Nelson Valdez.

I used em to show Gunning the reality , not you :)
Yeah kicker is sometimes not objective ( the Koller Question) *G* but even SportBild (Kickers greatest opponent) named kickers rating as the most objective in germany (not 100% objective but within 90%)
BTW Gunning I like Ebi too , but may the best play, I think he will be striker 4 atm, as Amoah seems to remembered where the goal is :)

"Kicker" is the best, most reliable source for information on the game in Germany and possibly in Europe. "SportBild" is better for just the statistics, but "kicker" is better for overall coverage.
Speaking of that, I have to get my Wednesday "SportBild" and Thursday "kicker" when I go to lunch! LOL!! :)

Yeah, but Amoah scored against a bunch of amateurs. Amoah still has to do some convincing to do too.
I think Ebi will play ahead of him........

I can't say that, but as I did say, I would have been just as happy had we gotten Klasnic instead of Valdez. However, I think we needed a player like Valdez more.
They are different players. We need that ball of energy Valdez is going to be for us.
Klasnic is pretty much the same player Frei is, so he wouldn't have been the best fit.
I would have been happy with him too, but I'm good with Valdez. Even though I think we paid a million too much for him.
As long as he gives the effort I saw last season and at the World Cup, I have no doubt he'll hit the mid to high teens in goals for us if he can stay relatively healthy the majority of the season.

Dortmund Duo Bury The Hatchet (http://www.givemefootball.com/news.html?newsID=95567&type=international)
I just watched the interview. Metzelder didn't look or sound pissed to me. He looked like a guy who just wanted the situation to go away.
He said they sat down, looked each other in the eye, hashed out their problems and shook hands when it was over. Now they both want to concentrate on success for BVB.
Sounded to me like this thing is over. But as I just said on our e-mail list, let's see what happens the first time one fails to cover the other's ass on a goal by our opposition......... :o

hmm mostly everyone I asked thought he sounded pissed .. but it doesn't matter, as long as he won't extend his contract ..

Well, no one has said anything about his contract. But, the club needs to do something soon. I think all the silence means he's going to be gone and we'll try to sell him at the winterpause.
But that's just my suspicion. I don't really have anything to back it with.
Trust me, I have no "deep devotion" to Christoph Metzelder. The only reason I don't want him to go is that I have ZERO CONFIDENCE in Markus Brzenska to be good enough at that position to get us into the top five.
I'd trust Metzelder and Woerns to do that, but not Woerns and Brzenska or Metzelder and Brzenska.
Brzenska just doesn't inspire any confidence in me whatsoever........ :(

Yea, he was pretty horrendous in the U-21 game too.
