What happened to Stevens in Berlin had nothing to do with the fans. He never had the team. Which is the bad thing about bringing in an interim trainer. If the team buys into what that guy is doing, the incoming trainer is already starting behind the 8 ball when he takes over.
That's what happened at Hertha. The team had already bought into what Falko Goetz was doing. When Stevens came in, he didn't stand a chance with those guys.
I said at the end of that season Goetz ran the team after Roeber's dismissal that Hertha should have bought Stevens out of his contract and kept Goetz.
I still believe that.
What? You think the players refused to play for Stevens because "the fans" didn't trust him??
Come on man.

Should requoted that and said that was one of many reasons why he failed at Hertha.

Still can't understand why Watzke & obviously the majority of your fans don't trust a manager with such a good reputation and quality! Can't you remember what you sang after your game in Nürnberg?

I still don't buy that either. I believe there's only one reason he failed. He never won the players' confidence.
When it comes to something like that, the fans don't matter.
If what the fans think really mattered, Stevens would have never taken the job. Hertha would have bought him out and kept Goetz.
But, I've said before, I really believe BVB management sacrifices better chances at success to kiss up to the fans.
I can't stand that shit.

This is simple. The players aren't responding to BvM anymore.
The "fanabteilung" has turned on BvM now too.
I really don't give a flying f#ck about what the "fanabteilung" thinks, but I do agree that it's time for the club to go in a new direction.
It's really just as simple as that.....

New name in the BVB head coach (trainer) rumor mill.
One that BVB fans dream about becoming reality.
Ottmar Hitzfeld.
Watzke has told the press that BVB have made Hitzfeld a "concrete offer" and they are just waiting for a response from the man himself.
I'm not getting my hopes up, but at least they made him an offer instead of running straight for von Hessen.......
Hitzfeld Offer Article In English (http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/articlenews.aspx?type=worldFootballNews&storyID=2006-12-18T094820Z_01_L18920765_RTRIDST_0_SOCCER-GERMANY-DORTMUND.XML&WTmodLoc=World+Football-C1-Headline-2)

Time to bring back an old discussion.
David Odonkor and was 6.5M Euros worth losing him as an option on offense.
What made me think of it was this exchange with "bltleo" on the Leverkusen thread.
I have question. How important was for BVB Koller and Rosicky? Both don´t play for BVB anymore. I think they both are missed at BVB. I think it was a big loss for BVB. What do you think?
No way. That's just an easy excuse for people to make. We missed Koller most of last season and did well. As a matter of fact, until last season's major injury, BVB were UNDEFEATED with Koller out of the lineup.
Actually, I think the player we miss the most right now is Odonkor.
(I think) He meant more to our creative game over the past season and a half than Rosicky did.
After that exchange, I typed an e-mail about it.
But first, let me past a link to one of the messages I posted back when the Odonkor sale was first made.
Now, I must say that once I found out Odonkor ASKED BVB to let him go to Real Betis, I wasn't as upset as I was at first, but still doubted whether 6.5M Euros was worth losing Odonkor as an offensive option.
Link To Odonkor Message Just After The Sale (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9451251&postcount=35)
Then, I sent this e-mail to our BVB e-mail list:
With the first half of the season now done, none of you is going to tell me we didn't miss the spark David Odonkor brought to our offensive game.
And I don't want to hear any of this bullshit about how he must be crap because of what's happened in Sevilla.
He was good enough for our purposes, just not good enough for La Liga.
Yeah, we got more than he was worth on the market, but was that 6.5M really worth what we lost in our offensive game???
To me, right now, that answer is "F#CKING HELL NO!!!"
No, I'm not saying keeping Odonkor would have solved all of our problems, but having a threat like he'd already proven he was in the Bundesliga out on the wing would have opened things up for Pienaar or Sahin in the center.
He'd already proven he works well with Smolarek.
For me, the bottom line is this simple.
We chose money over giving our team the best options on the field.
And now we are f#cking paying for it.
Flame away. I don't give a f#ck. I've seen it with my own eyes.
The final sentence is because I had people tell me that because we got so much more than Odonkor was worth on the market, we HAD to make the deal.
I didn't see where we were in such financial trouble that we HAD to make that deal.
As I typed previously, I understood better once BvM made it known that Odonkor asked to go.
However, I think that money just wasn't worth what it has cost us in damage to our offensive game so far.
And here's my response to anyone who tries to give me the f#cking bullshit response that we didn't need an attacking option from there without Koller in the middle.
I translate many of the stories that go on the English page at the BVB Official Website.
All they do is brag about how much of our attack is generated over the wings.
I know how much better it would be with Odonkor out there forcing a second defender to help cover him and opening up opportunities in the middle.
And last season, it wasn't Koller who capitalized on Odonkor's crosses into the middle, it was Smolarek.
Well, at least for half the season anyhow.....
Right now, for me, the Odonkor deal was a 6.5M Euro mistake. Not just for us, but for him too.
I think he got too "big-headed" about his "status" at BVB and in the game and I think we are guilty of putting the bank accounts before giving our team all the options they needed.
Perhaps putting Pienaar out there in the second half of the season will help, but again, as of right now, for me, the Odonkor deal was a 6.5M Euro mistake for both sides.........

The team should be at a crazy level trying to win back the approval of the supporters.
There's no BvM to take the heat off them now.......

You won't get an argument from me man. I have my doubts about Roeber and I also worry about Watzke becoming another Niebaum.
So, believe it or not, WE AGREE!! :D

The following is an e-mail I wrote after reading a letter to "Kicker" from a BVB fan out of Dortmund.
He and I agree on BVB's lack of professionalism in the BvM firing. I also add some comments.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I see he feels the same way I do. Why do I feel this way?
I thank Herr Watzke for his financial work, but is fully clear to me that he is no football manager or football man period.
I honestly don't trust him. I think he is out for himself.
I think Watzke wants all the accolades that will come should BVB find its way upwards again for himself.
All you American fans out there, think the Dallas Cowboys situation when Jerry Jones let Jimmy Johnson go and why.
Just watch. I think we have two players who have "BvM" written all over them. Smolarek and Amoah.
Watch how fast those two are dumped.
Right now, I think we SHOULD dump Amoah, but keep Smolarek. I think Watzke will get rid of both of them so there is no way anyone else will get credit should the club work its way up again except him.......
I don't think he's really looking for players we need. I think he looks for players who will get his name in the news.
Why else is he wasting his f*cking time making offers to Schlaudraff when we need to be addressing the central midfield situation??
Read on.

BVB: Unprofessional Trainer Firing
BVB should apologize to Bert van Marwijk. Our club is currently one big disaster, especially the management. Never has a trainer firing been handled so unprofessionally! Mr. van Marwijk, I apologize!!!

BVB: Unprofessionelle Trainerentlassung
Georg Schmidt,
Dortmund

More criticism of BVB management from me.
During the first round of the season, it was made known that BVB were interested in two players in the Danish League.
FC Kopenhagen's Danish international right back Lars Jacobsen and Danish international offensive midfielder Mikkel Thygesen of FC Midtiylland.
As far as I remember, Michael Zorc admitted BVB's interest in the two players and from all accounts, they are two players who could help this BVB team.
Guess what??
A couple of weeks before the winterbreak, Jacobsen signed with 1. FC Nuernberg for next season.
And now, reports are that Thygesen is on the verge of signing with Alemannia Aachen to replace Jan Schlaudraff, who is dumping Aachen for BayScum.
According to the article posted to our e-mail list, the only question is when Thygesen will join Aachen and that will supposedly depend on when Schlaudraff actually departs for Munich.
Right now, the Schlaudraff deal is for next season, but apparently, there is a chance that the two clubs could do a deal for Schlaudraff to move to Munich immediately.
Now. My question is with all the question marks we have on our team, how in the holy mother f#ck do we allow two guys we made it known we were interested in to go to f#cking Nuernberg and Aachen??!!!
Last week on our e-mail list, I criticized Director of Sport Michael Zorc and questioned exactly what it is he does at the club. I made it known that I would much prefer Stefan Reuter, Juergen Kohler or even though I know we won't get him back, Matthias Sammer in Zorc's position.
Even back when I was calling for Sammer to be fired as coach, I said he should be promoted to Zorc's position and Zorc be "promoted" to "Chief BVB Presidential Penis Holder" or something like that.
Why? Because from anything you can see publicly, it seems that Watzke is doing the job Zorc should be doing.
Other guys who have Zorc's role at their clubs in Germany are actually going out and improving their teams whether it be for this season or next.
And as usual, BVB just sits on the sideline, content to never deal with anything until it becomes an out of control f#cking problem......
