And they will ax the songs and play the show. Bank on it. They're the Stones. What else is to be expected?
I don't know if this is true, but I have heard from several people who didn't know each other that the Stones consider themselves in some sort of competition with Pink Floyd for drawing crowds when they tour. Gilmour & co. aren't paupers themselves, but they were at one time one of the most cutting edge (in a musically pleasant way- it's possible to innovate without sounding good, as most of the rock/pop of the past 15 years has proven) bands in rock. The Stones, OTOH, have never been anything but a glorified bar band, appealing to the lowest common denominator (musically) and duckwalking (Chuck Berry style) all the way to the bank. They are to the 60s, 70, 80s, 90s and present what hair bands were to the 80s.
Tell me again why I turned my radio off after the Police broke up and U2 sold out.
EDIT: They do have two songs I like (Paint It Black and Ruby Tuesday) and one I love (Angie). But that's it.
