For the record, this is only the second-worst beating administered in the history of the DC United reserve squad: they beak the New England reserves 6-0 on June 4th of this year.

Ah. They're slipping. Must be the tough Euro competition.

I don't care what excuses are given, this was a beat-down administered to a Champions League team. They started what I expected to be a strong lineup.
Wow

I like matches like this - the young kids get some exposure, maybe there's a chance for someone to catch on and hop the pond...
...I though that Maloney kid looked pretty good - maybe we should pick him up? :D:D:D

Wow, not only was it a 4 goal game against tough competition, but when was the last time we were lucky to see 4 goals of such high quality? That was a fun game to watch from a DC perspective.

Wow
And that can't claim that DC just scored all of them out of the gate. No goals till the 44th. They just got beat.

Crap. I KNEW I should have had a fifth Guinness. One per goal was my plan. I only had four.
That being said, there will be a lot of naysayers around. Celtic's in preseason, they'll say. Celtic played reserves, they'll say. True we're in top-of-our-league midseason form, the pitch looked like crap. But we played some reserves, too.
But we looked good. Not too much pressure through the midfield from Celtic, tons of open space for our guys, and classic finishing from Adu. Some questionable goaltending from Celtic, but Rimando looked good. See upcoming "Rinaldo now!" thread, or perhaps "Rinaldo tradebait!" threads.
I'm hoping some of our Celtic friends will now become part of the DC Nation, and understand how truly talented our team is. Some eyebrows may be begrudgingly raised. 4-0 is a shellacking.

I think the second one should have been called offside, but that's a minor quibble.
Maybe we should just throw the reserves out there on Saturday. Remember back in year 1 or 2 when our bench beat LA in LA. Those were the days. The kids looked great and they were running off the ball way more than the first team. Of course Celtic had basically worn out by then and were down to 10 men. But we seem to be even deeper than most of us had reason to imagine.

Plus the Screw had to play tonight (US open cup) and wasn't able to use as many reserves.

Scotland's player of the year last season and deservadly so. He's a player with real genuine potential. Celtic have alot of good homegrown talent right now, Mcgeady, Beattie, Riordan, Kennedy, Mcmanus- but Maloney is certainly the pick of the crop.
Hes fast with a hell of alot of skill, and 9 times out of ten will pick a great pass. I think hell be crucial to our title defence this season. I'm really excited about our midfield this year, nakamura, maloney, beattie, riordan, sno and jarosik. Just need to get the attack and defence sorted:p

I was wondering why they were wearing black shorts with the yellow jerseys this season.
