the people who jumped out and called Materazzi a racist, etc, before the facts came out, may now begin apologizing....
"Zidane denied Materazzi called him an Islamic "terrorist", as was reported by a Paris-based anti-racism group."

But if Zidane is to be believed, then Materazzi lied when it came to insulting ZZ's mother.

Done finished goodnight.....let this rest now!!! Insulting player on the field as vulgar as it is common. In latino soccer Mamma Butta is the most common word used, means your mother is a slut. If you punish player for that then there would be no Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Equador, Costa Rica, Portugal, Ivory Coast, France, Italy, or TNT at this tournament.
Please let this rest its over...........

So what, Materazzi lied when he said that he didn't know what an islamic terrorist is. I know athletes tend to be less educated as well as self-centered, but that would be a new level of stupidity if he didn't know what an islamic terrorist is.
If that is all that was said (who cares about specifics) and there is nothing racial, then Zizou did just about the stupidest thing to end a career short of biting Materazzi's ear off.
Hey Zinadine, you have anger management issues.
Sincerely,
Wayne Rooney

You know if Materazzi did insult Zidane racially, Zidane would probably not be allowed to tell people. It would only increase tensions between the Muslims living in France and the Italians. That could be why Zidane is so emotional about the whole thing. He is probably frustrated that he is not allowed to say what really was said (the Italians do have ways of scaring people). That might also be why Barthez has not been around since he is also frustrated with the whole situation. Many lip readers did say that a racial slur was used.So we might not be hearing the whole story.

Ummm....NO.
Why would Zidane openly say that a Saudi attacked him racially but deny it with Materazzi? It makes no sense (and yes, in 1998 France had a large Muslim population).

How does it not make sense? You don't think that Zidane could be afraid of the powerful Italians and the fascists that rule that country?Atleast Saudi Arabia and Zidane are fellow muslims.Italy is catholic and caucasian.

Fascist ruling the country in Italy? Last time I checked we had a post-communist party at the government, alogside with TWO COMMUNIST PARTY... the election were held in april of this year...
I should tell this to some fascist maybe they didn't notice they were ruling the country.
You should speak of things you know. If there are any.

Here's a quote from Zidane...
The France captain said, however, that he felt no regret for his act, "because that would mean (Materazzi) was right to say all that."
Zidane's logic is totally flawed here. Ignoring these ridiculous comments from the Italian does not validate them. The fact that he violently retaliated based on these comments gave more meaning to them than any other type of response. His reaction will only encourage other players to use this tactic in future games since Materazzi got him ejected and went on to win.
Zidane was punished for his actions, Materazzi was rewarded. It's a shame.

Do you have any evidence at all to prove that Berlusconi is a Fascist - ANY at all?
By the way, if Berlusconi was a Fascist, he wouldn't have forced far-right parties such as Alternativa Sociale to withdraw their extremist candidates from running in national elections. There ends the accusation of him being a fascist.
And how disgraceful of you to now attack the Italian government, which has nothing to do with Zidane's headbutt.
By the way, Zidane is not a Muslim, being "non practicing" makes you agnostic, at best. So get off of it, there is no conspiracy. There was no racial slur and Italy's title won't be annulled, sorry.

He isn't a muslim, but he comes from a Muslim background. Is there really that much propaganda in Italy for you to not realize how corrupt your nation and Berlusconi are? Most of the world knows how corrupt Italy is except I guess the Italians. And what I meant was that Zidane could be afraid of angering the Italian government if he gets Materazzi in trouble or if Italy lost the World Cup for saying a racial slur.

Materazzi claims that he said nothing about Zidane's mother. Zindane says he did. Let's examine how this might happen. In Italian a very popular way to tell someone off is to call them a "figlio di putana". This literally means "son of a whore", so therefore can be taken to be a direct insult to someone's Mom. But in reality, it is used so matter-of-factly in Italian that you could say it 50 times to someone and really not think that you said something about their mother.
Think about English where we say f-you to someone. Now imagine that person headbuts you in a game and says you told him you wanted to fornicate with him. That's not what you really meant, but they are the literal words you used!
So a likely scenario is that Materazzi told him that he'd rather have his sister's shirt. Then Zidane says something back and Materazzi calls him a son of a whore. Zidane believes "his women" have truly been insulted as he said in his interview, and Materazzi truly believes he said nothing about his mother.

Materazzi didnt get him ejected, Zidane got himself rejected. If he didnt, he could have led France to victory. It was his choice
