It must be the fastest WC rematch in history. Italy will play France in Paris for Euro 2008 qualifier. There will be no Zidane, but Materrazi will be there. Let's see how the French fans will react to him.

Hopefully Nesta is fit enough so Materazzi doesn't play

If I had honor and the allegations are proven true, Materazzi would never play for Italy again, even if Nesta wasn't fit, but if I was Italy, I'm definitely playing dirty, so in he goes to try and draw another red.

With Nesta healthy, Materazzi might never get on the pitch.

If I'm Italy, I beat them. Again.

Blah blah blah..I'd be back on the field and talking smack like an athlete is supposed to.
Look, this crazy idea of trash talking happens in basketball:

I would love that. Hope Zizou finds the motivation to play another year..
But anyway he would not be part of the game anyway becasue of the suspension tht he will receive.

As always, I think it will be a hard fought game between two very talented teams. Look, this was one incident in a 120 minute game. I don't think either team will hold too big a grudge, and I certainly hope they don't. I would love to see Materazzi and Zidane act like men and talk this out. But future games between them shouldn't suffer because of one incident. I saw players in the Final helping one another up all over the place. Sportsmanship isn't dead, it just took a small hit.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think he meant as a spectator.

So, who will be the sacrificial lamb that lays a beating on Materazzi if he is on the pitch in second half injury time if the results appears to be concrete?
Hopefully the bitterness will wear away and this won't happen.

i certainly hope for the two wonderful soccer teams to play with respect and dignity and that they allow the incident to stay put on the pitch in germany, where it occured. at the same time i hope that zidane is respectful, apologizes for his reaction, and handles the situation with maturity.

Bah, if the French team loses all its good players to retirement, they will most likely be weeping. (Kidding, kidding)
I don't think Materazzi would even play, Nesta would surely get his spot back by then.

Can someone of you, soccer expert and real gentlemen, explain me why this way of look at what's happened was not used for Totti - Poulsen accident?

It will be an entirely different affair though.
Very likely no Thuram (legend!), Zidane, Makele, and maybe
Vieria and Barthez. The French will be a very different side.
That's another things that's so depressing about Zidane's red
card - it was the parting act of that whole golden generation
of French players, a last chance for glory, and he ruined it.

Yep, France had trouble winning their WC qualifiers until their legends decided to come out and help them. They're going to be rebuilding, in a tough group nonetheless.

He slightly hampered it ; he ruined the fairy tale the media had been building...
Concerning the game, it comes way too early for France to re-create a group yet it won't prevent people to read a lot of things into this match.

Matterazzi wont play, but he will be on the bench. Well, it actually depends on the new coach. He basically sucks even through his WC performance was amazing.

france will be in a rebuilding stage. i dont expect them to be that good in Euro 08, but they have a lot of talent coming up just in time for 2010.
