Just like Klinsmann (Germany), Marcello Lippi of Italy has resigned his role of National Team coach today..
Any comments? Who has chances of taking over his role?

Donadoni is the most likely candidate, next Zaccheroni, and then Gentile.

What did he resign? I mean besides a typical I've accomplished the highest accomplishment response, any reason?

Going out on top is definitely a reason, but he also feels he didn't get enough support from the federation when the scandal came out.

"In two years under Lippi's guidance, Italy lost only twice - a 2-0 defeat on his debut against Iceland and a 1-0 loss to Slovenia, both in 2004. "

I found that quote to be very striking even though I was aware of Italy's unbeaten streak since Oct 2004. If you really think about it, that is a great accomplishment for a coach at the international level.
Bravo Lippi, you shall be missed

I'm not happy about it. But I can't say I'm surprised. He really has won everything. But I think Cassano put his finger on the real reason. And finally, I think we'll be alright. The talent is there. And we have some great up and coming coaches like Donadoni and Gentile to choose from. As my Ausie friends say, no worries.
GRAZIE MARCELLO!!!

What do you guys think of Donadoni? I really don't know too much about him in terms of coaching. His inexperience may be a big problem, wheras Lippi was experienced in all aspects of coaching really.
