DC United will likely field a mix of veterans and young players.

Chances are good that DC stars Ben Olsen (returning from World Cup duties with the US Men's National Team), Alecko Eskandarian (suspended w/ red card from last match - needs to keep match fit), Nick Rimando (vet GK returning from injury) and 17y/o Freddy Adu will see playing time.

Attendance should be in the 20K range, not bad for a weekday match.

DC United should be in their Black Kits, and I guessing Celtic will play in the new International Away Kits.

Celtic BETTER be in the hoops. The only reason they would divert from the hoops is if it blends with the home teams kit. The hoops certainly don't blend with the black.

Aww man, I'm gonna be pissed if their in that white kit. It's nice, but c'mon... I need the hoops.

I know, I would rather see the Hoops too.

But to be honest, I am just stoked to see Celtic, in whatever Kits they play. And that they are playing my favorite US team is just all the sweeter.

The new international kit is the god awful one isn't it?

I dunno, I guess I'll have to just wait and see what they come out wearing tomm at RFK.

All I know is that when they play a friendly on my FIFA 06, you can be damn sure DC is in the Black and the Bhoys are in the Hoops.

Any iidea what kinda a lineup Celtic will start with...?

With such a young squad, I assume that they will try to give as many of them as much playing time as possible. DC United should be a good workup for the upcoming SPL season.

Great Article from the local Washington DC press.

DC United vs Celtic Article - Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/11/AR2006071101388.html)

Points out that DC's leading scorer, Jamie Moreno (who scored his 100th career MLS goal recently) will be out of town for the ESPN ESPY awards  , but the rest of United is excited and honored to play Celtic.

Will this be on direct kick?

I think it is regional coverage only, not on Direct Kick.

I'm assuming the new all white away kit, as they go on sale at the same time as the match:

Sorry, OKTerrific. You can complain to me at the store . . .

Although the new kit is out today I do not expect to see it till the Chivas match. I would not be surpised if teams specify that they want the Celtic to be wearing the Hoops when they come to town.

Adu scores on a break away in the 44th min.
DCU 1-0 Celtic HT
A great play by Adu who looked to be a step off but no flag and he shoots the ball into the back of the net.
Very good open flowing game for both sides which have both have been unlucky infront of goal. Adu has caused Celtic loads of trouble droping all the way back to help in defense serveral times. On to the second half.

That should spawn two million dumbshit posts about how MLS teams are better than the OF.
